So true. He may have some people inside doing the bets for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some off-shore accounts being fed by the fixes in the games. I'm sure the criminals learned from Donoughy's scandal that they have to be more secrete about the fix.
Hmm ... what a coincidence. The spread moved 3 points to OKC (-1.5) after Portland opened as the favorite at 1.5. http://tonyspicks.com/2012/02/05/ok...railblazers-sports-betting-odds-pick-preview/ 3 points is a big move for an NBA regular season game, as the original post in this thread explains. It would be nice to know the volume, but that's heavy money on OKC in a matter of a day.
I think he was agreeing with you buddy EDIT: Posted, then read what blue said. At least I was right. LOL
Oh, I know. It's so obvious, and nobody really seems to be looking into it. Foster's reaction to Wheels after the game is a tell, too. The only reason to be defiant about blowing that call is because you were forced to blow that call, and you need to justify it.
Of course Foster is going to be Defensive from altering the outcome, however his behavior sure does point to him being guilty for more than just a mistaken call. Wow, that's an incredible revelation.
I thought Foster would be secretely punished by the NBA by not allowing him to work a few games. Not true!! He's working the Dallas - Denver game tonight. Just two days after the big error. BUM
Unfortunately with the crazy schedule and ref's getting injured that's not a possibility. Foster overall is a good Ref, but the real story behind him is unclear.
from that link as well...seems like donaghy was clearly putting in fosters bets for him, and likely conspiring with foster on which way he should call the game dec 30 2006, game day for both refs — 10:34 a.m. – Donaghy calls Foster. — 10:35 a.m. – Donaghy calls another referee. — 10:36 a.m. – Donaghy calls Martino, the “middleman” between him and his bookie. — 10:39 a.m. – Donaghy calls Foster. Not saying there is or is not anything to it, but don't you think the own.ers would be getting involved if their was anything shady?
Foster and Donaghy look like they could be brothers. Stern is losing credibility with the NBA. They needed to do a clean sweep and hire new refs after this whole Donaghy incident. He didn't, instead he kept around guys that were implicated with Donaghy. Its why the NBA is the 3rd most popular of the professional sports. Most popular with gullible kids that they market after. Its also why I'm more of a fan of the college game. Basketball in true form.
I've found myself watching a lot more NCAA b-ball this year and less NBA. Part of it is because the NCAA tournament is in PDX and I'm going, but I go to it almost every year it is in a NW location, anyhow. I still like the NBA, but the basketball this year is terrible because of the schedule, and the star system is even worse now than it was before the lockout.
It's a fine line, isn't it? Do the owners really want to admit that their product is rigged by gamblers who influence referees, at least in terms of point shaving? A game like Monday night, where the spread is so close, is just stupid to place heavy bets on and not be noticed. It makes no sense to me, but gamblers can't control which game Foster referees, and everybody has bills to pay. I really do hope somebody with a platform at least takes a look at some of the information surrounding Foster, because I frankly don't give a shit about the game tonight after what we witnessed on Monday, and how obvious it was.
It is a fine line, but do not think you you are going to get thirty owners to be that tight lipped. I know lines jump once refs are announced for a game and would need more info on other big line moves before making a judgement. Of course, it was not the NBA that figured out Donaghy was influencing games and it took him beiing incrdibly stupid before getting caught.
I'm of the thought that where there is smoke there is fire, especially when you're dealing with a known associate of an arsonist.
Now that I think back, who made the last minute calls against Camby for the block attempt against Westbrook (Camby never touched him) and the bogus call against Wallace when Westbrook just fell to the floor. At the time, I thought both calls were ridiculous. Were those calls made by Foster? Anybody have video of the last couple minutes?
