Re: OT: LeBron James Shows Off "No Carb" Weight Loss Just a bunch of gobbledygook. Life isn't about phases of this and that. Atkins is like common core math, a roundabout way of coming to an already obvious conclusion.
Re: OT: LeBron James Shows Off "No Carb" Weight Loss Good luck to you. Whatever you're doing, you say it's working. That's what counts.
Hey, what works for you! I'm a Mediterranean person myself - basically produce, whole grains, legumes, very little meat but fish/lean poultry, olive oil in moderation. Being an urban farmer and living in California, vegetables and fruit are a walk outside my door (currently greens, beans, pumpkin, peaches, lemons in season, apples on the way) Also started again hitting the gym; it's on site where I work. 4 days a week (Thursday is my late day). I'll check back with you guys in a few months....
Still doing the low carb diet and still liking it. Shorts I bought last year now fall off if I don't wear my belt, and belt tightened all the way. I got ketostix at CVS yesterday and the test strip says I'm truly in ketosis. I got the science right. The more I do this diet, the more expansive the menu. I've been able to find keto friendly meals at most of the local restaurants. I stay away from sauces that aren't mustard or mayo based; I ask them to serve that on the side. I ask for extra steamed veggies instead of potatoes or rice. We go out for breakfast on Sundays. IHOP mixes pancake batter in their eggs for omelettes, so I ask them to use shell eggs. I don't trust Denny's so I ask for shelled eggs there too. Some of the keto diet info sites say it's ok to cheat for a day a week or for a meal once in a while. I've not been tempted to cheat yet, but I probably will eat some stuffing on a Thanksgiving day or have a pizza once in a great while.
Denny do you or have you been into juicing before? I have an omega vrt which I really love having...even tho I haven't been using it as much recently.
Juicing isn't a big keto diet thing. Many veggies have a lot of carbs and they're to be avoided (like carrots). Only berries in small quantities are good on my diet, so I wouldn't be making fruit juices. Juicing may also kill the fiber content, and fiber is really good on my diet. I calculate "net carbs" as total carbs minus fiber and try to keep my net carbs under 25 a day at this point. I foresee a time when I've lost the wait I'm hoping to lose where I'll bump the carbs from 25 to 100 or even 150 a day. I do have a single serving blender that I make chocolate almond milk with. Sometimes I add peanut butter. It's yummy either way I found this on reddit, and they basically say the same thing: http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/comments/1tljne/juicing_while_ketoing/ Note: this diet is my own concoction. I'm walking 5 miles a day and eating a lot more protein than a traditional keto diet recommends. I have no "macros" that I'm following, either. I just read the food labels and eat things with low carbs, assuring I eat about as many grams of veggies as protein. I don't avoid low-fat foods, but I don't seek them out either. I've even put heaps of butter on some veggies or in recipies.
Yeah, fruit juice and some vegetable juices are heavily loaded with carbs per serving. I personally eat a small portion of berries and a larger portion of vegetables (raw, steamed, smoothies) throughout the day.
I won't eat any of the Atkins foods. Really expensive, and by my net carbs calculation they're super high carbs.
It's keto but no macros. I've had a pound of ground beef in one sitting. Keto would limit me to 135g of protein. I'm certainly eating 15-20g of carbs a day, and for sure I'm in ketosis.
My gf and I have been doing Adkins for the last 2 weeks with really good results. 14days, 16lbs. I'm pleased with a pound a day. Some of the Adkins deserts are awesome. 160 Calories, 2g Carbs for the peanut butter cups. They're $4.50 for five 2 packs. Considering that a 2 pack of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups are $.88 the Adkins cups are the same as a regular candy bar. Huge pro tip! Almond flour! Almond flour! Almond flour! That's flour made from ground up almonds. Biscuits! Pan cakes! Cheese crackers! Recipes all over the internet. Denny, you found 16g buns, Try 2g big cheese biscuits for your burgers. Almond flour cheese crackers are quick to bake.
I eat a handful of almonds 2-3 times a day. Sugar free jello is 0 carbs. Almond and coconut flour are a big deal for low carb diets. Flax seed, too.
Not a fan of the coconut flour. The almond bakes better. Haven't tried the flax. I eat sugar free jello too. The cups are a nice treat.
I don't have the rolled oats every day. I usually consume a 1/4 cup dry (about 16 g carbs) once every 4 or 5 days.
