They say 150g of carbs is low carb diet. It certainly is low if you consider what people not on diets eat.
That is exactly what this package of blue diamond non seasoned/salted whole almonds has for nutritional information. They sell seasoned, but if I want a little flavor I put some hot sauce on them, lol.
Lost about 15 pounds over the last 5 weeks. Doctor has me on a 1700 calorie diet. It sucks, but I only have to lose about 25 more.
I've been on a low carb diet with one cheat day a week where I can eat anything I want. I've lost 35 pounds in approximately three months. Potato products, ice cream, and Mexican food are usually my cheat foods. I'm doing this based on the "Slow Carb Diet" Tim Ferris is promoting, but I'm not taking all the supplements or doing any of the fat burning tricks. It's just a re-packaged Atkins/South Beach diet really with a bunch of weird fat burning tricks; like hot and cold showers, and working out just before meals and stuff like that.

http://www.food.com/recipe/one-minute-flax-muffin-low-carb-295649 Low carb flax seed meal muffins. I modified the recipe because I don't want the carbs from the cinnamon. Instead, I use 1/4 teaspoon of trader joe's cocoa powder. 6.8 G carbs, 6.4 G Fiber. Almost net 0. Awesome way to get fiber in your diet. I've been shooting for 25G but even with supplements (Benefiber), I was having trouble getting even to 15.
I'm pleased. The idea of losing a lot of weight fast seems scary to me. What I'm doing is losing about 4 lbs a month in recent months. That's since I started low carbs. I ate at a restaurant last night. I had 7oz of broiled salmon with green beans, and a salad with ranch dressing. Then I came home and made one of those muffins
So here's a good question for anyone who's doing the low carb thing. Thanksgiving is coming up. Do we cheat? I mean, eat the stuffing and yams and cranberry stuff? I probably will cheat for the one meal, though I haven't yet. My wife wants to go out for a chicago style pizza for our anniversary coming up, and that's a cheat opportunity, too.
Cheat days work great, you will be surprised. But they only work if the next day you are back hard core.
I may just eat turkey and greens, we'll see Anyhow, here's something REALLY interesting. This was my blood pressure just a few weeks ago (machine at CVS): And here's yesterday's reading: I don't feel much different. I just ran 2 miles, and walked another 3 and I'm not very winded or light headed as low blood pressure would suggest.
I lost about 25 pounds in 3 months going with a low carb diet. I usually give myself one flex meal each week. However, I don't gorge myself like some people would on a Thanksgiving Day meal. I will eat a little yams and cranberry sauce and refrain from having mac & cheese, potatoes, and stuffing.
From what I've been reading, one camp says cheat once in a while is fine, the other says live the lifestyle and cheating costs you a week or two weeks of ketosis. FWIW
