Interesting that they are interested in him instead of Kidd.

Honest response? Kidd strikes me as too much of a prima donna. Stotts may be a mediocre coach, but he seems like a nice, inoffensive person.

We’d win a championship every freaking year! If you don’t believe me, just ask some of the more vocal forum members.

I think Howard is one of those rare guys who can be successful both in college and the NBA. I was impressed with him as an aging player when he was with the Blazers. Seems to have the right mix of being hard-nosed, disciplined and, as a former player at the highest level, understanding you have to give the players some free rein.

I think he could succeed in Portland. He's familiar with the community and organization on top of his basketball acumen. There are several choices I'd be happy with (Spo, Billups ...), and he's definitely one of them.

They should hold a contest and hire a lucky fan to coach the team

Probably because they know Kidd would say no.
Steve Clifford left because he didn’t want to go through a rebuild.
I would assume Kidd will be in play for better jobs.

So Dame want Kidd over David Vanterpool when he criticized the Wolves for not hiring him? lol. My HC picks are Lionel Hollins and JVG or the championship pedigree of Udoka and Becky. Juwan Howard is also should be look at.

Probably because Minnesota is a young team that doesn’t have playoff aspirations and is quite clearly still building.

Kidd won a championship last year and has HC experience.

Pretty easy to see why, really.

Looking at his personal and coaching history, why would you assume this?

But Stotts was as responsible for a CHampionship as Kidd was.

I don't get you guys wanting JVG. He hasn't been a coach in forever. What makes you think the game hasn't passed him by? The game CLEARLY passed Stotts by.

He had nothing to do with winning that championship. That was Lebron and AD and Co. Kidd was assistant coach who sat on a bench and watched.

Because he has already been connected to the Celtics and Blazers job, which are both much better opportunities than the Magic.

And Kidd was an above .500 coach, unlike Stotts when we hired him.

He improved the defense of Milwaukee by the second most EVER in his first season and made major leaps.

Could be wrong but when he’s already been connected to two better jobs, not sure why the magic would jump in.

Maybe because his job the past decade or so has been to observe and break down every team that’s been broadcast on ESPN? He’s not on my short list or anything, but let’s not pretend the guys getting summoned from a cabin in the woods.

so by your logic, coaching isn’t a thing.

You addressed one aspect of what I said.
    Minnesota is still rebuilding.
    Kidd has prior experience.
And this wasn’t a comparison between Stotts and Kidd, it was a comparison between Kidd and Vanterpool.
Dame expressly stated he prefers someone with HC experience.

Because Dame thinks Vanterpool is a good fit for a LESSER job doesn’t mean he thinks Vanterpool is a good fit for the PORTLAND job.

I mean... it’s simple logic guys.

Alright, still has head coach experience - which dame expressly stated that he preferred.
Then, once again, just because Dame thinks he is a good fit for a different job, doesn’t mean he thinks he is a good fit for this job.
