Greg Brown assigned to the G-League

Lonzo shot over 30-33% from threes his first years but yes made some changes to his form and got much more accurate. Thats probably one of the best examples. But also very rare, and I'd say Greg is very far away from being a 30-33% three point shooter.

I just see Greg as you say a fringe roster player with no realistic chance to become more.
Certainly there is little chance of him becoming a legit outside threat staying with the wonky shot mechanics he's currently got going and without that, little chance he ever becomes a big part of any team's plans. He starts his shooting motion low, which gives the D a good shot at blocking/affecting the shot before it leaves his hands. He then brings it up across his face instead of to the same side of the head as his shooting hand which makes a repeatable motion & release point near impossible. With ball in front of his face instead of above his head, he generates power from his arms not his legs. It's along the same issues that both Lonzo and Derrick Jones had/have.

Every day is a chance to change and he's got plenty of time to do so.

I clicked the Marang/Quick twitter spat link. It's stunning to read any let alone several responses passionately defending JQ. Burner accounts was my first thought

This statement could apply to over a thousand players all over the world that are not in the NBA. To become a valuable NBA player more than this is needed, Greg Brown just doesn't have BBIQ, shooting skills, defensive awareness, or elite NBA level athleticism.

Perhaps the plan is to stick him in the G League just to get him out of the locker room and help the team by raising the average player BBIQ. Addition by subtraction.

Then wait until the trade deadline and trade him for luxury tax savings. That might give the team flexibility to use two roster spots for buyout veterans prior to a playoff push.
I disagree on one part, he does have elite athleticism, especially the bouncy kind. That’s why I made the Magee comparison. Obviously smaller and different positions, but I think peoples idea of him needs to change. He will likely never be a shooter, but he has the natural tools, size AND athleticism to be very good in spot minutes down the way.

Should the blazers hold onto him. Not if something better comes along which it probably will but I don’t like that he is being disrespected in this thread. Look back in 5 years, he isn’t going to be a biggie or Ha, over and out. He’s going to find a journeyman role because he has the natural tools and the willingness to learn and grow. We shall see, I doubt I see this thread after today but you are more then welcome to throw it in my face in 5 years.

The Blazers are 2-5 since GB3 went to the g league. Time to bring him back.. I hope he is getting some run down there.

This is worthy of being put in a textbook as an illustration of "correlation does not equal causation"

Has anyone watched any of the GLeauge Games to see how Brown has done?
Has he shown ANY improvement?

Just looking at scores, it looks like there has been 5 games since he was sent down. He has 6, 11, 17 and 19 points and one DNP-CD. He is probably getting 15-20 minutes a game and averaging 3 rebounds or so a game also.

Not all rookies develop at the same rate but I doubt seriously that this season Greg is 206 lbs....he's been lifting for two seasons since that stat was probably around. If they didn't see something in the kid they wouldn't have sent him to the G league and they'd have waived him and kept Sarr in my view...they must like him.

Greg would really flourish playing next to a PG like Ricky Rubio. Which leads to the next question: who throws the best ally-oops in the league?

Or better yet, buy a G-League Team and send everyone who was on our Summer League Team.

He’s a clone of Travis Outlaw.

He’ll need to develop his outside shot if he wants to stick in the league.
