Strongly disagree. No play-in team has, nor probably will, "shock the world". Spending a bunch of money for veterans who are at a play-in level is not the way most teams are built... because it's not a smart way to win.

Pretty much, with only a few exceptions, you have to have a super duper pooper star to win a championship and a legit second star to pair with them.

    LeBron
    Shaq
    Kobe
    Jordan
    Bird
    Magic
    Curry
    Durant

Dame is arguably that good, but he has never had a decent roster around him. It has always been super flawed.

Not even sure what to do with that.

Maybe it's arguable... but it's not a good argument.
Dame is clearly a tier below these 'greatest of all time' type players.

We blow a 25 point lead to the lakers then win a shootout with the lowly Spurs(giving up 127), and now we play the .500 Jazz. If we look like shit tonight I think it’s pretty telling of how guys are responding to Dame/Billups this year.

Means we are one game closer to .500 and being the average team management has constructed.

Never said a play in team has won a ship or ever would. My point was that most teams are average or worse. And that the league survives on tv rev generated by tremendous fan interest and the chase for play offs. Hell, the league now has a play in to generate more buzz and are considering a mid season tourney. Only a few teams every year are Legit contenders.

What does "shock the world" mean, then? Making it to the second round?

Even if we concede that most teams are average or worse (which doesn't really matter, since we shouldn't be happy just because we're just as bad as other teams), most teams are not mediocre while lacking draft picks, having mainly veterans in its rotation, and no cap space for the foreseeable future.

5 Josh Harts on the court would make for a lot of FTs and shot clock violations.

That's not answering my question. I know what "hoping to" means.

It's been 14 years, and I don't know if I've ever seen Ed say a positive thing on this site. At some point, if a form of entertainment makes you so miserable, you think you'd just move on.

I wonder if Dame wasn't 6'3 and was actually 6'8 if the conversation wouldn't be different, based on his accomplishments alone.

I'm not saying he's as good as those other guys, but the argument is whether he's truly a superstar. A top tier talent. The kind that you build around.

Like.... I know we haven't ever won anything, but is that really Dame's fault? If he had been put on a championship caliber team like the Lakers/Bulls/etc etc etc

I think it's clear: Trading Dame will be a step in the right direction; he's really holding the franchise back.

I think it's clear the FO is totally able to build a contender around Dame.
