A big part of me thinks Ed purposely spelled Damians name wrong so no one outside of this forum, would ever see the petition. Clever!
I wouldn’t have made the petition but hammering on EdO isn’t right either. The general question, should Dame be traded is valid. Dame has said, without disrespect, that he’s not down to stick on a team that doesn’t trade in its chips for a win-now strategy. If you don’t believe a win-now strategy is likely to succeed then it’s only right to trade Dame. If we don’t, and the team doesn’t massively improve, then 1) Dame will ask out, 2) we will have traded all our trade chips for a now dameless team, 3) we will be in massive trouble with a financially strapped team since the new CBA will so harshly penalize over spending (Dame plus Other Star, minus Dame for crap to match salary) will hamstring the Blazers for the next 5 years. for me, I’m not fully in either camp. If the right player comes available, and it looks like we can snag other good players, I’m happy to keep Dame. But, I think there’s a damn big chance that won’t happen. Trading the third pick for a pretty good player just won’t cut it. EdO isn’t crapping on Lillard (I don’t think), he’s saying the chances of trading the 3rd pick for a significant enough piece is very unlikely. The petition was a bit rude, but it’s not some egregious shit on Lillard either. It’s a worthwhile question without a good answer.
Part of me wants to see Dame get traded because then we'll get to see the first NBA player to score 100 twice the first two times he faces us.
Please post the link that says that? This seems like something you have created. Damian Lillard (spelled correctly) has made statements. How you interpret them is something entirely different.
but is sure feels right well then you haven't paid attention to his last couple dozen months of posting. He has been crapping on Dame for a damn long time define "significant enough"....I don't know what that means. What I suspect it means is that you're applying the ridiculous, unrealistic standard of that single trade transforming the Blazers into a contender. It wouldn't happen that way and probably hasn't happened that way for any team in the NBA not the Lakers. the best Portland could expect is a trade that allows them to take a big step toward contending, with a couple of other significant steps needed to get there . what's the difference between crapping on Dame and egregiously shitting on Dame? I think it's the same, just with more syllables. if the author of the petition thought there was no good answer he wouldn't have made the petition, and he sure the fuck wouldn't have posted a thread about it here, fishing for signatures
The reason I don't think any Blazer fan should start an actual petition for trading Dame isn't because of this place....it's because a petition can be filled with Lakers and Knicks fans voting for Dame to be traded. There's no way to vet who's a Blazer fan on a public petition
I would never even open it. It's like when your wife says, "Please get that out of my purse for me". I'm like...."Uh...Uhhhh". Never even go in there........
Ill go another step and say the OP should be thoroughly embarrassed. Why? Because every time he is asked to provide a realistic trade he defers to “ thats not my job” or some bs like that. Equivalent to saying we need world peace. okay how? not my job to figure it out! well alrighty then!!!! He also wont answer the other tough questions when rebuttals go back at him. Regularly ignores realistic answers, etc. Basically a troll mod.
First, I loved your post! The crapping on Dame vs. egregiously shitting on him comment was awesome! second, I haven’t been around here that much lately, life got in the way. And I don’t know what EdO meant. So. I’ll leave that aside and admit I was putting my perspective on EdO. But, back in the day when I would post much more, I really like EdO’s posts. Third, now for my thoughts. We don’t know what Dame will do or what spurred on some of his comments but it makes sense to me that Dame wouldn’t want to endure a protracted rebuild. I absolutely love Dame, love him on the Blazers and if he asked to be traded I would continue to root for Dame. He deserves to be on a team where his talents can matter in a significant enough way the a ring was an honest possibility. I don’t see the Blazers being that place. On top of Portland being a very unlikely place for Dame to make another title run, Portland will be handicapping its future by keeping Dame with an age-limiting window. all that said, I’ll be happy if the Blazers are able to find that perfect trade that either Improves the Blazers enough for a title run, or doesn’t hamstring their future. I would love to see Dame retire a Blazer at 40, but that also needs to mean he, and the Blazers have rings or were at least in the finals. my best guess is that keeping Dame means either the Blazers stay a middling team with Dame, or a shitty team when Dame demands a trade.
Can we start a new petition to make sure Gronk_Brady isn't secretly Joe Cronin? Holy jeepers this is brutal...
Anyone who took this even 1% seriously needs to reconsider their ability to perceive reality. I think the Blazers should trade Dame, but obviously a petition is stupid.
I know I've only been in this community for over 20 years, and I'm glad that you are here to adjust my thinking about the Blazers and my responsibility as a fan of the team.
