foregone conclusion that ant is gone. and i don't think his departure has anything to do with scoot -- it's rather to open up time for Sharpe.
I’m not against using the pick to draft, scoot, or Miller. I just don’t like the idea of drafting somebody and keeping Dame. Especially a guard. Trade the pick for a more polished wing that can help Dame now or use the pick, trade Dame for draft picks/assets for the new Blazers era. All I want is for the team to show that they have a direction.
He’s easier to replace than say, Kevin Durant, yeah. Or realistically any “wing” that is on par with him as a player. There are a lot more people born who are 6’3 and under then there are people who are 6’6 and over.
I hear you, but I don't feel the same way. If we had traded the #7 last year for, say, OG... it would have been a direction. We probably would have made the playoffs. But we wouldn't have Sharpe, and we wouldn't have Scoot. Personally, I'd be fine with keeping Dame and the rest of the team together, adding Scoot, and letting the team play. We wouldn't be a championship contender, but we'd have two key young pieces and we almost certainly wouldn't be one of the 10 worst teams in the NBA. Having a chance to win most nights and having two potential young studs is exciting to me.
I didn’t say he was easy to replace. I said he was “easier” to replace than Kevin Durant. True or false?
*If* we draft Scoot, we better trade Simons for a starting caliber SF, bare minimum. Not interested in trading Dame if we draft Scoot.
False. KD hasn't won anything on his own either. He chased the ring. Has got ants in his pants as far as staying happy in one place, and is often injured. I don't think he's as good a leader , or closer as Dame. If it comes down to a last shot, i'm giving it to Dame.
I would have much more respect for Durant if he had stayed in OKC and saw it out. They were close. But impatience led to their demise.
6’3 guards do, which is a generalized statement. You specifically asked about replacing Damian Lillard, to which I gave a specific response. That’s like someone saying, “a guard that shoots 38% from 3 is easily replaced” and then you saying “so it’s easy to replace Steph curry?” Not all 6’3 guards are Damian Lillard, but there’s a lot of really fucking good short guards in the league right now.
Lol, ok buddy. If you honestly think a healthy, prime Durant is easier to replace than Damian Lillard I’ve got oceanfront property in South Dakota for ya. Let me guess, Dame is better than LeBron too?
Shaedon Sharpe has basically the same standing reach (8' 7.5" ) and wingspan (6' 11.5" ) as the Thompson twins. If the Blazers draft Scoot Henderson, Sharpe could get minutes at small forward.
Or we could just be done with trying to justify playing our guards as forwards and instead play our SG at the SG position. This is giving me “norm powell actually has a 6’11 wingspan” vibes.
He'll already be the strongest, most athletic point guard next season. I don't think he needs a few years to be effective.
