I'm choosing to forget the past and focus on the future. Dame is gone, what can we get for Jrue?

we're Blazer fans in a chat room. Light it up, say whatever we want. We ain't getting paid for this stuff. To go on air, just to be rude and nasty to a Blazer that poured his heart & soul into this franchise. Actual media people throwing shade is more or less inciting a riot.

I've only heard the Blazers' side. Does this version of events not just make perfect sense? You've been watching and listening to Dame for 10 years. A decade. And he has always been one way. Then it looks like he's changed and Joe Cronin just shrugs and is like "Dame wants out, guys, I'm surprised" or whatever and so the fans--me included--act like Dame's image was just this choreographed branding thing. But then Dame gets his chance to speak and it all fits together, like I said earlier.

You like those players apparently, but you know they haven't won shit for Portland at any point.

I've watched a few bold-faced lies by Cronin on tape. That is enough for me.

Joe Cronin is receiving insults for having Trail Blazers interests as a priority

Lillard is receiving praise for having his interests above Trail Blazers interests

Don't worry people, we are seeing who's a Trail Blazers fan and who's a Lillard fan...

If he's the best two-way guard in the NBA who can fit right in with just about any team, probably a good amount.
Multiple first-round picks has been mentioned a few times.

“The Celtics could package Malcolm Brogdon, Al Horford and multiple first-round picks for the rights to Holiday,” wrote Washburn, “who would assume point-guard duties and send Derrick White back to his shooting guard position.”
    https://www.boston.com/sports/morni...9/28/jrue-holiday-celtics-trade-report/?amp=1

Sean Highkin: My sense with the Jrue Holiday trade is that since Portland got mainly players back in the Dame deal, they’ll likely prioritize draft capital in this one. So whichever team offers the pick(s) they feel are best/highest upside is probably the deal they’ll go with.

It's not about what Joe Cronin did, it's the way he did it.

The letter from Dame excluded Cronin. Maybe he hated that Joe didn't want him back. Very understandable. But from my point of view, Joe risked the bad press of declining reconciliation with Dame for Dame's own good. As stated before, Joe put Dame in the best position to get a ring, with Milwaukee being better, way better than Portland.

It's kinda like giving up your biological child for adoption to a wealthy, loving family because you're unable to give the best life for your child.

    I hope Dame realizes this

It seems like Haynes article just reinforces whatever prior opinion fans already had of this situation.

Some Dame supports see it as evidence Cronin did Dame wrong.

Personally I see it as evidence Dame has acted extremely unprofessional and all of the Blazers action were fine.

All of Cronins "were committed to building around Dame" is normal GM speak. What was he going to say with Dame on the team the last two years, "were considering trading Dame away and rebuilding?" That's just not how the world works.

So far it's been "the local podcast told me to hate him" that has been overwhelmingly represented.

He isn't the one who asked out. Try to keep up here. It's pretty obvious now that your mantra from the beginning has been way off.
    The timeline doesn't lie.
Dame asked out and demanded Miami.
Then his agent went all out telling teams dame only wants Miami.
Then after the offers weren't good enough Dame went back and said he would be willing to stay until the deal with Miami worked out.
Joe said Sorry but that would not be best for the organization.
Joe traded Dame for a decent return and now has another very tradable piece that will make this move very good while getting Dame to a very good location.

Now you want to say "It's the way he did it".
Sorry but the stage was set and the band was playing.
    Joe started dancing.

Now Dame in his letter says someday he wants to be a Blazer again And he really respects Jody. Not one mention of Paul Allen though.

If I were in Joe's shoes, I'd want to trade Lillard as well.

Sometimes it's just the way the chips fall. Are we mad at Joe for drafting Sharpe and Scoot? We don't even know what was being offered for either. People act like Joe is supposed to pull championship players out of his ass, but this isn't fantasy land.

If Zach Collins had panned out, this might be a totally different story imagine a lineup of Dame, Hart, Grant, Collins (with realized potential), Ayton.

I love Dame as a player and as a human being, but to be honest, over the years his patter got a little old and stale. He kept saying the same things over and over until they became almost too routine. It almost made my eyes roll. Yeah, we get he's loyal, we get he's this and we get he's that. But sometimes you have to just quit talking and let your actions speak for you. And if you have to keep telling people you're this or you're that, it loses something (or hides an agenda). And it makes a guy (or at least me) wonder why we have to constantly be reminded. The way this whole thing went down and the way Dame seems to have gone about it (will we ever truly know the "truth" of the matter?) it seems like Dame has spent the past several years giving himself cover (in a passive/aggressive way) in the event this day ever came. Personally I think Dame took (really) bad advice from his agent and overplayed his hand. He fucked up and Cronin still did him (and the franchise) a solid. He has a legitimate shot at a ring along with the next 4 years totaling over $200M in his pocket. Lifting his leg on Cronin is a bad look and drops him a notch or two in my eyes. I really thought he was better than that.

Cronin is terrible. I genuinely believe this franchise will be in the gutter with him at the helm.

Exactly. Lillard is using Haynes to try and rebuild his reputation after a brutal summer where he burned a lot of good will. Too late.
