Just a rough patch, getting back from being out with injury, on a team that fucking sucks, still putting up around 13 and 10 on the season, shooting almost 54% even though most of the plays on this team are isos that don't really set him up or get him the ball where he likes it. I didn't ever think Ayton was a max player but he is a valuable player and right now we don't have to sweat the salary.
I can’t believe how many times a game he fumbles the ball. He has the worst hands for a big. Also when he rushes his shot, he usually come up short.
Not sure I agree with that? He sure sounded like it was important to him when he was first traded here. I do wonder if he found out it was going to be just as much work here as anywhere else and now he simply doesn't know that it's what he wants to work at?
thinking that deandre ayton will change in his six nba season or even beyond is nothing else than hopium he could be a great player (probably not like embiid, but lesser version of him), he has the talent and he has the physical attributes, but he doesnt have the mentality to be successful waste of talent and physical attributes, but hes not the first nor will he be the last player to waste all that
I would trade him before we trade Grant, almost, just because there might still be somebody in this league who thinks they can make something of him, but the more he plays the more obvious it will be that you can't.
I can't stand players like him. But it's really on Joe for trading for this beach bum. Ayton already showed what he was before. Nurk is a better player for half the price. Cronin got taken to the cleaners...again. And the sad thing is, he could be really good. What does Joel Embiid have that Ayton does not, physically or skill wise? Ayton just doesn't have it upstairs. He was supposed to be able to showcase more of his ability on this team, but instead he's diminished.
I think there was one team that actually WANTED him at his contract, and that was Indy. The Suns didn't want to lose him for nothing, so they winced and matched. Then the Blazers felt they had to move Nurk and rolled the dice and Ayton (whether due to injury or attitude or other) has been worse... so I don't see the Blazers getting any value for him and it probably makes more sense to keep him through the end of the contract than to ship out value to get rid of him. (I feel similarly about Grant, in that I don't think teams want him at that contract, but getting him off the roster makes sense to me more than Ayton.)
Yeah, I mean the biggest issue is clearly his head is screwed on wrong. With those tools, give him Duop Reath's mentality and dude is an all-star easily. Mentality is the hardest thing to change - especially for guys that have already been paid.
Meh. We traded one mentally weak player for another, but got more talent and a better fit at the position. We also got Camara. I'm fine with the deal.
Ayton sucks. I hope we draft a promising center in the next draft. I was so excited when we traded for him. Now I understand what some Suns fans were warning me about over the summer.
The problem is that for some reason the media was hyping people up like Ayton was gonna come in and average 25 and 10. So people had oddly high expectations going into the season.
