Huh? Olshey wasn’t competent enough to do that. He would have asked for three at minimum. Or a borderline all star in return.
You think Joe wouldn’t have traded Brogdon for two 1st and the obvious salary filler?

    I think so.

I wish more people could see this sensible rationale…

    wut?

I said, or at least implied, that no GM would be stupid enough to offer two first round picks for Brogdon. I doubt Cronin would be stupid enough to ask for two first's, but I don't know what he was asking

People in general get caught up in the shiny, new toy.

Hey, you're OKC and you pick a guy 29th that looks like he's got a chance. It's exciting for fans. Then they never see him because you get to camp and he's a PG and he's nowhere close to being SGA.

It was nice to have that late 1R pick, but once you put it into the context of your actual roster, it turns into a virtually meaningless addition to your roster.

For some reason blazers fans and management seem to think getting nothing is better than getting something.

Stop holding onto assets for the hope they’ll fetch more later. A bird in the hand is worth more than a bird in the bush.

Using your analogy, wouldn't Brogdon and Grant be the birds in hand?

so you’d be happy with a deal like Fournier and a shitty 1st for brogdon?
    Glad you’re not the GM

I took his point to be that Olshey gave away Blazers picks like they were dime-store candy. He traded two mid-firsts for RoCo, who wasn't as valuable a player as Brogdon. If Olshey were with some other team, we might get three firsts for Brogdon because Olshey always undervalued his draft picks and seemingly felt he needed to overpay to get talent to come here, even in trade (and, seeing him in press conferences, maybe he did because other GMs just didn't like him).

That's what I was expecting, a guy we would probably waive on an expiring and a playoff team's FRP for Malcolm. I thought we could get more if we were taking on a bad contract. For Jerami I thought we could either get two late firsts, a late first and a good prospect, a good prospect, two lotto protected future firsts and a bad contract or something along those lines.

I have a feeling based on all of the chatter around the league about how much a bunch of different teams liked both Malcolm and Jerami that those were the types of offers that were coming in and they weren't good enough for Cronin. You can applaud him for that but I think it was foolish to keep these guys if something like those offers were on the table.

The fact is Joe put it out there to multiple local and national reporters that he wanted to keep Jerami and Malcolm unless someone blew him away with an offer that sounded like it would have to be an overpay. Well Joe got what he wanted we're a .300 team with two vets whose value isn't going up and don't fit our timeline for when we'll need guys like them to win playoff games.

Yeah, I was hoping Furkan Korkmaz would become available. So we might actually be able to get Dalano Baton AND Furkan Korkmaz?

On the bright side: I think Brogdon is helping Scoot's development, by allowing him to come off the bench.

Yep. This dude wanted to keep this roster together. That just about says it all.

The only solace I had when we traded Dame was the idea that we would go all in on a youth rebuild and Joe can't even give us that. Just half assing it.

I'm trying to breathe, but Joe Cronin's recent quote confirms my fears are real and knocked the wind out of me. Help.
