Just a heads up ... this will only be for those that get OTA channels, if you get KGW from a cable or streaming package, you'll be SOL. Same thing we are doing with a baseball team down here on the border, they make the announcement and people think it's going to be for everyone, but you have to have the antenna to get the games.

The Blazers should do that asap. It'd be a good start to fix things.

They can't. They are locked for one more year under contract. It will happen the year after.

You can get an OTA antenna for $20.

The Kraken seems to be an organization that cares. Not only cares about making money, but cares about fan outreach and expanding the customer base through exposure and goodwill.

The Blazers, under it's current management and ownership, don't. Simple as that.

Yup but most people will read this and think it will be on KGW standard and not realize it's only OTA. Going through that now with people calling our station and wondering where the broadcast is and why we are still showing NBC programing and not the baseball game.

I literally had to search to find out who the hell The Kraken even are, guess they are a hockey team from Seattle. Who knew? Never heard of them, but good on them, hope it helps push the Blazers to do something similar.

God Portland loves being Seattle little bitch when it comes to sports

Sounds a bit misleading. So the only way to watch is to get the antenna?

I'm sure root won't be sad to see them leave and if Portland wanted out they could get out

Antennas are cheap

Anyone know why this is? NHL wants people streaming to buy their league pass type product or something?

Yes ... or get the games on Prime, which sounds like it will only be for people in WA, OR and ID. KGW (on purpose) doesn't say this in their press release but there is not a chance in hell NBC is letting them preempt programming for Kraken games along with KREM and KING. It gets great buzz to say they are airing the games but don't let you in on the fine print. You can get an antenna pretty cheap and can actually get quite a few random channels on there if you really don't want to pay for cable/streamer. But the days of KGW showing Blazer games (or any other) on the main station just in Portland is pretty much gone. We are a small market down here and had to fight tooth and nail to get NBC to let us pre-empt programming on one Saturday night (a bad evening for prime time TV) a year for the biggest football game in the city to air.
