I didn’t want Stamkos at all honestly. It’s really simple, as a GM you shut your mouth about a trade until it happens. Trouba needed to get moved. But that time has come and gone now and we are stuck with him unless we put him on waivers and if we do that we might as well just give up trying to sign players as no player would rightfully want to come here knowing that their contact can be loopholed and they can be sent out of here. Marchessault for 5.5 is an easy fit. And honestly, I’d let Lindgren go. He’s hurt too much. Yes, he’s a battler and plays through injuries but he’s only going to be more injury prone. Schneider I would bring back and I would have brought back Gustafson and had him platoon with Jones. Especially if from what it seems like we are going to break the bank for Igor, we will need forwards. If he wants 12M+ then he will earn it with an average defense in front of him and we can try to win games 4-2.

Cuylle is a 3rd liner. You want a bunch of 3rd liners? Cool. We will have the Hank teams all over again. Enjoy that.

“Should be” “Could be” “Might be” That’s all these prospects are until we bring them up. Then when they are up we don’t know how to use them properly or they are proven to be good role players but that’s it. You are literally saying we need to build Hank-esque teams once again with Igor. That’s fine and dandy except I would prefer not having to rely on a goalie to win games 1-0.

I think he is a 3rd liner but to each their own. We both agree bottom 6.

    Kreider/MZ/Smith
    Panarin/Trochek/LAF
    Cuylle/Chytil/Kakko
    Rempe/Carrick/Vesey
    Othmann/Brod/Enstrom

That is our group of Forwards as of right now, reposition the bottom 6 any way you'd like. What happens when we run into FL again?

Does anyone even know what the list Trouba gave even has listed as his teams he won’t go to? It was due today and it’s been super quiet. Has he not given it and if not does that mean we can trade to whomever? If he has turned it in I would love to know what teams he has listed.

Switch Rempe with Othman and Enstrom. Rempe has a role to play, but it isn’t as an everyday player currently. He has a lot of work to do with his skating and balance. Also, NHL clearly has a bullseye on him so the less he’s out there the less he’s in the box. Kid has loads of energy and doesn’t skate by players when he can hit them which is what we all like, but it’s also why he keeps getting penalties called on him unfairly.

With Trouba he is still a good player. Drury can't put him on waivers and lose him for nothing. Dont need the cap space now. I think he stays this year and is traded 364 days from now

To me Othmann has more offenisve upside than Cuylle... the problem again is the third line center lack of offensive creativity

Wennberg signs in SJ for 2y 10mil - cashed out. Too bad he sucked here. After the OT goal i really thought that would spark some scoring from him and the 3rd line but nope

Scary thing also is Carrick as an every day starter or Brod even. That’s terrifying lol

He’s a good player, but is he an 8M a year player? No. We also can’t have him here with everything being as toxic as it is now. We are kind of cornered with him now. We keep him and we risk him poisoning the team and locker room. We trade him and get pennies on the dollar for him. We put him on waivers and we get nothing for him other than an extremely bad reputation for waiving guys that have NTC which will affect guys signing here. It’s a lose-lose-lose situation for us. It will also be VERY interesting to see what sort of reception he gets at MSG next season with all this being out in the open.

I like Othmann to make the team. Dont mind that. Edstrom might be better this year. Dont really like Carrick - but any 4th line center is a toss up at this point

Like I said flip the 4th line and AHL/extras any way you want. I think Othmann can make an impact like Cuylle. But, the bottom 6 need to be more consistent.

Owners are going to claim poverty next season. Don’t be surprised if the cap doesn’t go up now like we expect it to. Feels like the NHL is always doing this to itself. The cap goes up, owners give out big contracts (some deserving, some overpaying), owners cry poverty and get a cap freeze, NHLPA calls for a lockout and in the end we as fans suffer.

5 million for Wennberg... OH MY GOD... what did he do to get a contract that is 600k LESS than Vinny T?

Issue also is Chytil is one hard sneeze away from being done for his career which then puts Carrick AND Brod in the every day lineup.

I agree on Trouba's salary but if Drury is going to run it back with this team then we are better having Trouba than not having him. By that, I mean losing him via waivers and getting nothing in return. Maybe he can trade him to a team and get a dman we were hoping he would get back in the return. At this point, might as well just accept that this is the team going into the season with maybe another low level UFA or two.

Like I said, prepare for a lockout with the owners crying poverty while fleecing the fans. This CBA expires after 25-26 so hold on tight.
