Are the lakers wanting to get rid of DLo? The magic have a lot of space and need a scoring guard. Maybe they could get involved. I have 2 picks going from LA to Portland and 1 from Orlando to Portland. But maybe it should be just 1 from LA since they are giving up DLo.

yeah, I think people here are significantly overrating Grant's trade value. IMO, he might net an unprotected 1st but I am a bit skeptical. But it would not be significantly more draft capital than that. I don't think there is any way the Lakers trade two 1st's for Grant. If that's what Cronin is asking for, there won't be a trade

Grant is probably a decent 3rd option and great 4th option. But he has a 4-year contract at 33M/year. That's a good-news/bad-news situation

The Lakers are under pressure. LeBron is 40, and the team as currently constructed is a play in/1st round bounce team. Jerami is the only needle mover available. Are they going to squander Lebron's last years to protect a 2031 pick?

Grant is worth 2 firsts. The Blazers can easily get a 1st for him anytime they want, so they may as well squeeze the Lakers.

The problem is, the teams that could use Jerami don't have the assets, and the teams that have the assets don't want Jerami. Get ready for him to be on the roster come November, at least.

The Blazers tried to squeeze the Lakers. No juice. Guess we are running it back.

I think you find out how many seconds along with DLo the Magic would take to give us the lesser of their 2025 FRPs the pick guaranteed to convey (in the unlikely scenario that the Nuggets end up with a top 5 pick). Then you just take DLo, Vando and whichever of the two firsts that the Lakers have without protections on it.

We end up with a couple of firsts for Jerami even if we have to give up a couple of seconds to get there. I'm assuming that Joe is trying to hold strong demanding the players that it would take to match Jerami and both firsts the Lakers can trade and I think if he'll just see the bigger picture that he can come away with a nice return just by taking a little less.

I'm sure Joe is thinking that he'll just wait and an injury will skyrocket Jerami's value. I fucking swear, Joe is so picky he's killing this rebuild. Dude just can't pull the trigger.

If Chauncey can get Jerami and Ant (assuming they're here when the season starts) to play like they're just another one of the guys in the ball movement, player movement, drive and kick offense that Chauncey extols then I'll chill my jets but if we see a whole lot more Ant and Jerami iso bullshit I'm going to be in the meltdown thread after every game. Don't worry @THE HCP I won't spam the game thread with repetitive complaints, that's not my style.

We cannot say for sure there will be no trade until Lebron signs his reported deal. If he takes a little less to get them under the 2nd apron, it's possible Jerami trade still in play. If Lebron takes no paycut, the Lakers can't do anything at that point

Cavs apparently want to move Garland but aren't finding much demand. Maybe...

    upload_2024-7-4_13-39-1.png
Add whatever picks are offered, but the main thing is offloading most of Jerami's contract. (Yes, I know he should be valuable, but he's only valuable if another team values him.) Lonzo Ball may not play again, but if he does, he can be Brogdon's replacement. We don't really have a backup PG right now.

If I had to guess, the team that says "no" in this scenario is the Bulls. They want to offload Lavine but are finding even fewer takers than the Cavs. Meanwhile Dosonmu is a very good and very cheap young player. Trouble is, they don't have much in the way of alternative throw-ins.

    Ooh, thought of a solution:
    upload_2024-7-4_13-49-12.png

Pistons demand at least one first rounder for using their cap space to dump Lavine.

according to Spotrac, the 'reported deal' for Lebron is a little bit of a paycut

    upload_2024-7-4_10-35-26.png

that would put the Lakers about 700K below the 2nd apron allowing them to aggregate salaries in a trade....just as long as they hold off signing Bronny to his reported deal

    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/yearly

my guess is that if Cronin would have accepted one 1st for Grant, the deal would have been done by now

Not exactly running it back. We will have a new starting forward and backup center. I know that in the long run, it is smarter to tank one more year, but I have to admit, part of me wouldn't mind them rolling the dice until the trade deadline with this line-up

    Scoot -Banton
    Sharpe-Ant
    Deni-Camara
    Grant-Walker
    Ayton-Clingan

    Dump Thybulle's contract

That leaves Williams, Murray, Rupert, and Reath

The problem with this is we might win the championship and miss out on the loaded 2025 draft

Keeping Grant and Ant will be a major disappointment to me. They will take all the shots and dominate the ball. It’s bad for the future imho. Simply have to know what Scoot and Shae are capable of when the team is in their hands.

I'd send both out for an unprotected first each, ASAP.

So you think with a starting lineup of Scoot, Sharpe, Deni, Ayton, and Grant, Jerami will dominate the ball?
    I don't see it.

Hard to believe Shae won't get his shots.
Hard to believe Scoot won't get his shots either since he handles the ball so much. But with those other 4 on the floor, why would we even want him to shoot that much? That should not be his role.

if the Blazers are asking for unprotected first's for either player, with a legitimate possibility of a top-4 pick, those two will retire as Blazers

Maybe people can start seeing a trend.
Small scoring guards who are not plus defenders don't have a lot of demand across the league....
    They're plentiful.

Simons, Herro, Trae, LaVine, Beal, etc.
