Minor I believe came into the league when he was 21, I’ll give Scoot a little more time.

Are you sure about that? I don’t think Bassy played better than Scoot to be honest.

That's because of the great situation he is in and the incredible developmental staff here in Portland.

It's the trainer. I blame the trainer.

It's hard to drive to the hoop when his defender plays him only to drive; they don't have to worry about him shooting the three at all. Or really even worry about him pulling up for a mid-range.

They maybe should send him back to the G-league again. They do this in baseball all the time; players hit a rough stretch and they send them back to Triple A to get their timing and confidence back. Then Grant could play more guard and Deni could finally get the minutes he deserves.

Of course they would need to send a coach down there with him who knows what he is doing.

He doesn't seem to have a problem getting into the paint when he wants to. He's already one of the best PG's we've ever had when it comes to drawing the rim protector and throwing the oop.

I think if Scoot were going to be good, we'd be seeing a growth curve by now, but there is absolutely no growth curve by any metric. He's going to be turning 21 in a few weeks, has a season and half under his belt. Age excuse isn't enough to cover the depths at which he is currently.

The Blazers should try to salvage something from him via trade and move on. Banton is a better player on both ends.

But he's an awful finisher, and many of his turnovers come from drive attempts.

Yeah it does, if he gets to the hoop but sucks at finishing and it causes turnovers, then what does it matter?

It's like talking about what a good driver your grandma is up to the point when she drives the car onto the sidewalk.

Scoot is literally one of the worst players in the NBA.

Yeah I agree we would've seen glimpses by now. Sharpe while still not being a good player yet has had many such glimpses since his very first game. Ant first two years he was raw but had far more impressive games than Scoot.

The issues with Scoot aren't tweaks or improvements we typically see players make after 2 years. Shooting 27% doesn't turn into a good shooter. Bad finishing inside doesn't become a strength. Turnover passes that are 7 feet from a teammate don't become accurate. He might improve all of these, but he's just so terrible at them now even with significant improvements he still won't be a good NBA player.

I mean I'm fine exploring the trade market but I can't imagine there are any decent offers so likely just will be best to hang onto Scoot and hope we see some improvements at the end of this season.

Next big decision will likely be October of next year if we consider cutting Scoot 4th year option on his rookie contract to save that $12 million.
