they are the 4th best 2 man combo in terms of net points the Avdija/Banton combo is really cooking. Not only are they the best in net points, they are best in net FG%, eFG%, Reb%, and assist%; 2nd in net 3ptFG% best 3 man combo is Avdija/Banton/Sharpe
One is 23 on a $55 million contract. The other is 30 on a $160 million contract. Great that we actually have a player on a contract that could go up in value and age well. I'm terrified we're going to be stuck in 2028 with a 34 year old Grant still here earning $40 million.
It doesn't really make sense because Grant can play guard; his presence should not be taking minutes away from Avdija.
Love Deni. He always plays hard so his mistakes (turnovers) are easier to accept. But whether he starts or not depends on who he is on the floor with. He can be equally effective in bringing energy off the bench. IMO he fits more with a shooter like Grant than he does with Camara. But let's assume Grant gets traded to open up more minutes for him to start. In that scenario, I think he fits better with Ant than he does with Scoot. Especially if Camara starts alongside him. Then you hope Scoot brings the energy off the bench. You never know, maybe the two of them (Scoot /Deni) would push the ball well together with Shae finishing. But my gut says you need a 3-point shooter like Ant in there with them. The fact that keeping Ant will make some of you blow a gasket is an extra bonus.
in December, Avdija is #1 on three-point shooting at 51.7% and Camara is #3 at 38.2%. Grant is #2 at 44.4%. Simons is the only other trailblazer above 30% on three-pointers in December at 35.7%. Simons, Avdija, Camara, and Grant should be able to play together just fine.
True, but I was thinking about "Turbo" pushing the ball after a rebound and having options to pass to. Shae or Camara for a lob or Ant for a 3. Grant in that scenario would be traded.
I know i should be humble but I said I thought he could be our best two way player, and right now he is playing like it.
I never understood it. Watching him play I thought he clearly was our best player miscast in the wrong role. Only player on our roster that can be better is Sharpe imo.
If he's not looking like he's going to be perennial all NBA it wouldn't change anything about the idea of that being a smart trade at the time it was made. I certainly wasn't critical of Deni. I'm a big fan of how his game. But the timing of giving up 2 picks (one likely a lotto and potentially as high as #2) was not good unless we were making a "put us over the top" type move.
I think a little bit of both. At the beginning of the year I thought he clearly was trying to take over for the team. I think he has settled in with the team more.
The Blazers are 10-20 and Avdija is coming off the bench. I don't know who is making that decision, but he/she/they should be fired post haste. Meanwhile, a guy (Grant) who is shooting 38.8 % on 2-point shots started and played 31 minutes last night. It sure would be nice to have a coach whose rotation and player usage made sense. Avdija looks like someone on a minutes restriction. I don't need to label these because it's clear which one is Avdija and which is Grant.
