At this point I am less concerned with trading guys (it will happen or likely not) and more concerned about getting a coach who will develop players better and play for the long-term good potentially at the cost of a few short term wins.

Someone not afraid to make our “big-bucks-guys” role players if that helps the team.

    Life of a Blazer fan.

Not at all. The plan was to trade him. It does take two though. There was no deal coming soon. Just that the Blazers and Ant are on the same page about moving on

Are we expecting anything to happen before the deadline?

It takes two. I think our best hope is trading Grant. I doubt we'll be able to find a taker for Ant or Ayton.

I'm hoping we trade Grant for Middleton or a similar deal and just get out of the last year or two of Grants contract.

I've totally given up on a FRP.

Grant is clearly our 3rd forward at best behind Deni/Camara. Not a good situation for him or the team to continue to roll forward with him on this roster.

But I never would've thought it made sense to acquire the vets Cronin did so who the hell knows what he will do with them.

If it really pissed teams off so much, why didn't they step in and offer more?

    you're trying to sell a used 2017 car. it's bluebook value is around $15,000. People offer $12,000-14,000. Your counter-offer is $29,000, firm. That's not hardball, it's dumb-ball

The consolation is that Ant/Ayton are expiring next season. Joe can just let them walk for nothing and enjoy the cap room. Will he do it? Plus Shaedon will be due his new deal. Will they over pay? Get rid of Grant if possible.

I love how everyone just continues to act like they know the details of trade conversations Cronin has with other teams.

I never said he's trying to get twice what they are worth. I said he's trying to get fair value. He's trying to get that 12-14 and getting offered 8-9 if that.

Of course. Cronin switched from getting screwed over in deals (Clippers/Pelicans) to winning them or at least getting fair value...it's what I'm saying.

I wasn’t necessarily replying to you anyway lol
I don’t disagree with you on the CJ Norm trade but I have a hard time thinking we wouldn’t gotten all that much value when GMs new we were in a very tough position

obviously, we don't know what the offers are. We can have a general idea if anybody is interested in the car(s) for sale, and the Blazer models are likely a pretty depressed market

I think we can say, if the rumors are true that Cronin was demanding two 1st round picks for Grant, he was asking way above market...

out of 192 qualified players this season, Grant ranks:

    PER - 156th
    TS% - 175th
    Ast Rat - 132nd
    Reb Rate - 161st
    winshare/48 - 176th
    BPM - 153rd

he's shooting a career low on 2ptFG%; and, he's at a career low (by a lot) on FG% at the rim

two 1st round picks for that?

now, in fairness, he has been quite a bit better on most of those marks in the past, but he's a SF and a team always needs to wonder about declining production & efficiency at age 30 and later, for a wing.

And obviously, two years ago, when he was 28, he was traded for only one 1st round pick that had a high probability of being in the 20's. And that pick was the total return. And at the time, his salary was 20M, expiring. Now his salary is 30M and he will turn 31 in two months; and he has 3 years, after this, left on his deal at 34M/year

I wonder what 'fair market value' would be?
