<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Some of the best young international and domestic basketball talent will be on display in Las Vegas in July, regardless of the NBA labor situation outcome. The first-ever Global Hoops Summit (GHS) will take place July 16-21 at the COX Pavilion on the UNLV campus. GHS will take center stage in the basketball world if the NBA has a lockout on July 1, with many NBA free agents and undrafted players competing. ?Basketball has blossomed into an international game, and we are proud to showcase some of the brightest international talent in Las Vegas this summer,? said Warren LeGarie, GHS Executive Director. ?The Global Hoops Summit provides an excellent chance for fans of basketball in the United States to witness international talent which they don?t have the opportunity to see on a regular basis.? Twelve teams from around the world will compete in a 30-game schedule that stretches six days. Some of the competing teams include the national teams of Korea, China, Nigeria, Qatar and the Philippines. Also on hand will be teams from Passing Lane Sports, BCI Edge and SFX Sports. The Passing Lane Sports team will feature Sun Ming Ming, a 7-foot-8 ?, 360 pound center from China that NBA scouts are extremely curious about. The 21 year-old spent five weeks in Greensboro, NC, working out with trainer Keith Gatlin in hopes for a shot in the NBA. Sun has drawn comparisons to fellow countryman Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets. Along with Yao, Wang Zhizhi of the Miami Heat and Mengke Bateer, who has played for three different NBA teams in the last three seasons, also are from China. ?With his size, he intrigues everybody,? Gatlin told the News & Record in April. ?He can really shoot the ball to be that size. The challenge for him now is to get mobile, to get up and down the court.? Scouts from many NBA teams including the Jazz, Wizards, Pacers, Raptors, Bucks and Bobcats have traveled to see Sun in person. He also had a private workout with the Lakers on his way back to China on April 29. </div> Source
I've never seen Sun Ming Ming play and I havne't heard much about his game except for the sole fact that he is 7 foot 8 and 1/2, which is just crazy insane. He should be able to get 10 boards like that, is what I figure but who knows...
Just because your tall doesnt mean your going to average that many boards. Best rebounders in the league are 6"8 6"9

he coud turn out to be a bust but i really doubt that for a guy that size. if he can run up and down the court then he might be good
i`ll be VERY surprised if he ever see`s an nba court...........he came over a while back so as to not be hooked up with the chinese army team who are notoriously stubborn in allowing there players to leave.

Except they were all closer to 7'5 than 7 freakin' 8... There is a BIG difference in 3 inches. Yes they sucked, but they weren't (as I said before) 7 foot 8 and a half inches.

Just as a clarification Team Philippines isn't sending the National Team. We're sending half of it. They're still in the process of try outs for the national team. So we're not sending the best.
