    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">No. 1 TIM DUNCAN
Since the retirement of David Robinson, Tim Duncan has become just a part-time power forward because come crunch-time, Robert Horry plays the four, while TD is the Spurs' center.

In any case, Duncan's virtues are well known: Nifty post-up moves (with his right-handed jump hook being his supreme weapon), sure-handed rebounding, long-armed defense, alert passes and somewhat overrated jump shooting. Although he uses his elbows as grappling hooks, the Big Fundamental plays with more finesse than actual power. Despite that fact, his ability to deliver in the clutch, resourcefulness and above all, his will to win, put him at the top of this list.</div>

Finally someone gives some recognition to the worm... but check out the MIA section...Garnet and Barkley come on.

i don't know, Garnett should mos def should not be on that list...yet anyways. Unlike the other positions, i thought this one was pretty good, but i would have put karl malone up at no.2 and bump everyone else one spot.

    1. Mchale-the best period-his last game ever, he scored 30+pts on Zo in the playoffs but lost on a last second shot-what a way to go out
    2. TD-he is going into the prime of his career-will be #1 when it is all said and done
    3. Malone-He was not the clutch player some seem to think-however you cant take away the fact he was the second all time point scorer ever
    4. Barkley- Point scoring and Rebounding machine-He would have had a ring if the rest of the Suns would have shown up for the BUlls series-remember he scoored 27 pts in the first quarter/56 for the game against the Warriors in the first round of the playoffs that year
    5. Rodman-unbelieveable rebounder-didnt need to be an offensive threat because he wasnt asked to be-rodman found his niche and stayed with it-look at the teams he was on and you tell what kind of offense did he need to pull up-pistons, spurs, bulls, lakers

honorable mentions-petit, worthy, petitt, DeBusschere, Schayes, B Jones, -I couldnt put some of them on the top 5 list simply because I never seen them play enough and can only go on heresay and stats

    the future: Amare Stoudemire

?: KG-Im still waiting for him to do something when the game is on the line and step up and be a man to the veterans like Cassell and formally Sprewell and tell them to go to hell-then stop stepping to "I cant get on an NBA team cats" like Rick Rickert-remember he punched rickert in his mouth for outplaying KG in a pick up game-great leadership

I totally disagree with that list. They didn't even put Brkley or Garnett in there. Both are better than Pettit IMO.

Here's how my list would go:

    1. Duncan
    2.Garnett
    3. Malone
    4. Barkley
    5. McHale
    6. Rodman

I wouldn't put Garnett over all those poeple. He's only gotten past the first round once. Maybe when his career is dont, but IMO putting him 2nd now is disrespceting the other great power forwards.

Yes Garnett second of All-Time. I'm interested im hearing why you think this is ubsurd. I know most people would say that he has only made it out of the first round of the playoffs one time. but he's also been MVP and taken his team to the Western Conference Finals.

When I list the greatest players ever at a position I base it on the players talent, not their accomplishments. That's why I listed Garnett at second. He is one of the most versitale players that NBA has ever seen, is unstoppable in the post, can face up and drive to the basket and has a consistent jumpshot.[IMG]

Your going to put Garnett over Bob Pettit? I'd give you an indepth analysis on why Pettit is better than Garnett, but there's no point, because everyone knows Garnett isn't better than Pettit. Just look at the stats: 26 PPG, 16 RPG, and 3 APG. Garnett will be one of the all time greats when his career is done, but you can't put him over a legend like Pettit, yet. I say yet because anything can happen from now until his career is over. Charles Barkley is also another one who deserves to be over Garnett at this point in Garnetts career.

AA13, I don't understand. Your acknowledged as a celtics fan and yet you propel garnett to be better than Petit. I wouldn't even put Garnett in my top 5 and yet you put him as the second greatest when he has accomplished far less than those guys below him. Please explain to me why he is better than guys like mchale, malone, and even petit.

Because I beleive that Garnett has the most talent out of the other players that can be listed as the second greatest power forward of All-Time.

McHale wasn't as dominating as Garnett. He wasn't the star of his team either, Bird was. McHale had good moves in the post but like I stated he wasn't as talented or as dominating.

Pettit played in a different era than Garnett. In Pettit's era the only competition for big men were Russell and Chamberlain. Garnett competes against many good post players such as Shaq', Duncan and Yao.

This is the hardest to argue. Malone was another great versitale Power Forward that had a complete game. but I do think that Garnett has more talent.

What you aren't understanding is that I don't make a list of the greatest players at a certain position by their accomplishments. I judge them by their talent.

When comparing eras you have to take in consideration that other players had petits frame and size but they didnt do anything against their "weak" competition. Why not? Petit was great because he was a level above the other PF and wasn't a jump out of the gym type player he just was very talented and worked at his game, that is what makes the legends great. They may not have had the talent or athletisicm of today's players, but they did incredible things for their time that have never been seen before, and they were our Garnetts and Duncans of the past.

Heres another interesting point, today there are more 7'3", 7'4", 7'5, and even 7'6" players than ever and they do not dominate. Yao doesn't dominate but hes getting there. Why did Wilt dominate so much? Contrary to popular opinon he was not the only 7 footer of his time, he wasnt even the tallest player of his time, he worked out, took care of his body, worked on his game, and demanded the ball, he stepped up as a leader. A center leading the league in assists, give me an excuse for how that is era related.

My all-time greatest PF is Charles Barkley.

C - Wilt Chamberlain/Bill Russell (can go either way)
    PF - Charles Barkley
    SF - Larry Bird
    SG - Michael Jordan
    PG - Oscar Robertson

I see what your trying to say, but then if i based everything on talents rather than accomplishments, then i would have put Amare at number 1. Do you think that's fair??...exactly.

Whoa Garnett over Mchale-thats crazy-I know Kg has been dominate but he is not as good as Mchale at least not yet-What people have to understand is that Mchale was a star in his own right-If Bird was not with the celtics, Mchale would have been the star on that squad. Saying Mchale was not a star on the Cs is like saying Jabbar was not a star on the Lakers and Bucks with Magic and the Big O. For McHale to even be mentioned as one of the best PF of all time is a testament to him. Remember people, Mchale was the 6th man for half of his career.

Garnett does not deserved to be over Malone, untill Tim Duncan arived Malone was the one power forward who every pf wanted to emmulate. This is not just based on athletics, Malone went to the finals twice, garnet as of now, western coference finals once.

i respect the fact that these power forwards are legends.....but skillwise
i would have to say Kevin Garnett is the most complete player out of every one of those guys...but since he has no championship, he aint on the list....TD has 2 rings and a few MVP's....but i think number one is a bit overrated.

You have to look at who wrote the article. Mr. Charley Rosen, NBA hater, has bad things to say about anybody who doesn't fit his view of a position. He cracks at Iverson, Garnett, McGrady, Kobe, Shaq, Kidd, and any other star you can think of. I think he likes Duncan because he's SO fundamental and his style of play can fit in any era.

I like Malone better, personally. He was more of a scoring PF and could put numbers on the board. However, we're entering Duncan's 9th year in the league, so I don't think he could be the greatest yet...
