Murray, an 11-year NBA veteran, was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers on Aug. 25, 2002. But the six-foot-seven, 235-pound Murray averaged just six points, 2.7 rebounds and 15.1 minutes in 95 games with the Raptors.

That probably means that Babcock isn't going to make a trade after all, right? Either way, I'm happy to see him go, he was a complete waste of time.

Heres another article, but its from espn saying the same thing.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Raptors waive forward MurrayAssociated Press

Toronto Raptors: The Raptors waived small forward Lamond Murray on Friday.

Murray barely played during his three seasons in Toronto, averaging 6.0 points, 2.7 rebounds in 95 games. The 11-year veteran had one-year and $5.25 million left on his contract.

Toronto general manager Rob Babcock wanted to clear a roster spot and allow Murray to sign with another team.

He had 1 year left worth 5 Million. I'm pretty sure we still have to pay him. That means 5 million will come off of the cap next off-season.

Like Bobcats said, he has 1 year left at around 5 million plus, and he'll clear waivers so we'll have to pay him for the upcoming season.

I heard Babcock's interview on Fan590 and he said there is a buyout involved. He did not specify whether it was for the whole amount owed or just a portion of it but there is a buyout clause, which means that MLSE would've saved money by waiving him.
