That would be huge for the Knicks if it happened, and will save Isiah's job... that's why as a Sixers fan I hope it doesn't go down. By the way, didn't Starbury and KG have problems in Minnesota? I'm not really familiar with their relationship in Minnesota.
I hate to say it, but if Minnesota wants to completely clean house, the Knicks deal makes the most sense for them. Geographically - The TWolves send KG to an Easteran Conf. team instead of a Western Confl. team Financially - The TWolves are a small market team to begin with. They watched their season ticket sales drop from 10,000 to 8,500 and they are not selling out games even with KG now. They will get back $25M in expiring contracts and relieve them from paying $102M in future contracts. A lot of money saved for a small market team. Minnesota can completely rebuild their team with all this financial flexibility. Plus they can use McHale as the scapegoat and unload him, too. I wouldn't be surprised to see the TWolves pursue Kiki to replace McHale, and hope he can bring Nene with him. Wally Factor - If the TWolves are going to pull the plug KG, then Wally has to be involved in the deal. If the TWolves are going to rebuild, they also need to dump his multi-million dollar deal, and the only way to dump him is to package him with KG. Wally and his contract are going to be deal breakers for a lot of teams, and the Knicks might be the only team willing to absorb that contract. Isiah has always been fond of him, and Wally has always expressed a desire to play in New York. NBA Approval Let's face it, the NBA overall benefits from KG being in New York. It will grab the national media's attention and bring a large market team back into the playoff picture. The ratings will sore with KG in New York because the Knicks will be sold as a title contender. KG is a great player to market as the face of the NBA, and having him in NY makes it possible. I posted this in the rumor mill as well, not only would people jump on the Knick bandwagon, a lot of people would start watching just to tune in and hope this team fails. Either way ratings go up and the NBA becomes very popular again with the masses.

Wow...KG and Szczerbiak for AD and Penny???? That's a steal for the Knicks...but the problem is that Larry Brown would acquire another player who doesnt play defense...Ariza deserves more minutes, so where would Wally fit? It would be a great trade for NY but I'm not sure how all the pieces would fit into Brown's style of play...

To get KG I wouldn't care if you couldn't give any minutes to Wally. That kind of deal only comes around once in a lifetime.

Add that to us having a Hall of Fame coach. We also have a star in Marbury. With Marbury and Garnett drawing double teams, it will open things up for Wally, Richardson, and Crawford on the wing. Downlow we'll have Curry dominating the paint. What team do you know has two dominant low post threats, a potent penetration attack, and a deathly touch on the perimeter? We also give up pretty much nothing. Davis' rebounding will be replaced and then some by Garnett. The Knicks with Garnett will be talented enough to give anyone of those teams you mentioned a hard time.
I really don't see why they would ship Garnett, of all people, for expiring contracts. Yah, he's not happy, but I'm sure you could get a lot better then expiring contracts for KG... Any top 3 players is worth more then that.
I think we'd have to part ways with channing frye in a deal like this. I cant see us getting kg for penny and davis.
The only way I could possibly see this go down is if you guys gave up Crawford along with Penny and Davis and a pick, for KG and Wally.

Still the TWolves will be just as content using McCants at shooting guard for now. If I were Minny I'd rather get Ariza, Frye or Lee as part of the deal. And I doubt the Knicks would be reluctant to send those players at a chance to bring in KG.
This move would be great for the knicks. They get rid of 2 bums and get arguably the best player in the league. They certainly will be instant contenders. They would be better than the Pacers, Nets, 76ers etc. I wouldnt want Wally because we already have a shooter in Q and wally wouldnt fit and would barely get minutes. Maybe the knicks can unload Crawford/JJ instead. I would give up Lee and Nate but not Frye. It would be an excited time for NY. But would this hurt our cap even more?

And if you haven't noticed. Q hasn't did crap for your city.

I'm sure you could manage a deal of KG to someone for a really good rook + expiring contract. By good rook I mean top 5 overall. I mean, this is crazy, he is a top 3 player in the league. It is possible to get much more talent, and still get cap relief, there just has to be a better trade out there.
