According to ESPN.com Ron Artest has requested a trade, preferably to the Knicks. Thoughts?

he said that he just wants a trade now
but he would prefer one to knicks or cavs
and he said he does not mind coming off the bench as a back-up for LBJ

he also said that after his contract is up (in 2 years) his first choice will be the knicks as he wants to return to his hometown.

Damn, man I love Ron Artest...that guy is by far the coolest guy in the league, I would totally worship Isiah Thomas if he gets Artest here

I like Artest, too. He’s from New York and he was a St. John's Red Storm. We should’ve drafted him instead of Weis, but that’s a different story. Anyway, there’s a very slim chance we’ll end up getting Artest. The only possible scenario I could think of is along the lines of Richardson and Davis for Artest, Croshere and Bender. That’s not fair for the Pacers and they would be better off getting someone like Odom or Peja. Artest is really just too underpaid for us to really work with his contract.

Edit: How about this for a better trade:
Antonio Davis, Penny Hardaway, and S.A.'s first rounder for Steve Francis and Grant Hill? The Magic save tons of money and they get rid of a headache in Francis, and an injury-plagued player in Grant Hill.

^ And I highly doubt Indiana wants to trade him to an Eastern Conference team.

If Artest somehow landed in NY I'd be one happy guy, I've always liked NY sometimes more and sometimes less but none the less back on topic Artest would be a great addition to the Knicks.

If the Knicks get Ron Artest it will most def put them over the top. He plays 110% every game thats what we need plus the SF spot is wide open. We the Knicks get him I will be happy if not then its ok.

even as a pacer fan i would do this deal in a second.its too good to pass up we get rid of tinsleys contract although we lose his floor leadership. i dont like the fact that aj is involved though i think that gill should replace him in the deal.a front court of jo and curry wow and if one of them gets injured then frye is right there to start.yeah i would say yes.

the most obvious deal to me because of artest low salary is

Mike Dunleavy + Ike Diogu for Ronald Artest

works for both teams, indiana get 2 players than can contibute along with danny granger at the SF position

golden state get an upgrade at sf and the defensive presence the team so badly needs, a 1-2-3 of bdiddy, jrich and artest dont sound bad either.

    warriors
    ---------

    baron davis
    jason richardson
    ron artest
    troy murphy
    adonal foyle/anyone

    indiana
    --------

    tinsley
    jackson
    dunleavy/granger
    croshere/diogu
    o`neal

That might be one of the worst trades proposals I have ever seen, I don't know how you seem to make sense of it. Ron Artest is above and beyond both of those players, they don't even come close.

Do you honestly believe indiana can get another all star back in return for a complete lunatic who is just as likely to request a trade 2 months after arriving,or some other major indiscretion.??

Artest is a lot harder to move than you may imagine, this deal is a good deal, diogu was a 9th pick in the draft and dunleavy is a solid contibutor with a team orientated attitude (unlike ron),they may have to throw some cash or a pick in but the basis is rock solid

what all star with a 30 million contract can u trade him for???

While I agree that Indiana can't get equal value for Artest, Dunleavy can't be traded because he just signed an extention and has poison pill status...

could u imagine if the warriors pulled that off.
they`d be like the nets with real big men, troy murphy is a very underrated player, foyle is so-so,but with bd,jrich, artest, murphy, foyle they would be a team you would`nt want to play in the playoffs

I think you're highly underestimating Artest, who says he just wants a fresh start with the fans because a lot of people in Indiana don't like him. Even if the Clippers got Artest, they'd have to give up a a big part of their bench in either jaric or simmons along with a starter, probably Murphy. I doubt Indiana would take anything less.

    you mean cassell?
but hm an artest-> cassell deal would not be bad actually
cassell''s contract expires by the end of this season
and this also allows clips to start shaun livingston

They're so many teams with better offers than this. It's not like Artest is a free agent next year; his contract expires in four years. We don't have what Indiana wants either. If Artest cools his attitude a bit, and is still good enough to play good defense, maybe we can talk about this in 2008-09.

    JARIC plays for the Timberwolves

    SIMMONS plays for Milwaukee

    MURPHY plays for the Warriors

You want to trade all these players from the clippers??

    HELP !
