Lebron made a good point, the fact is lebron is closer in what he does on court to a magic then a kobe or tmac. If magic scored 50 points in a game it would probably be at the sacrifice of his team. A win is way more important then dropping 50.

If your saying that LeBron is "weird" for picking 50 points over a win, I disagree completely. That line shows how determinated Bron is for a W.

what he said as a 20 year old put a lot of older selfish players to shame

basketball is a team sport, not a one person circus (although it would be nice to see lebron go crazy and dunk over everybody)

    Good one lebron

I can't stand this quote. I feel like after listening to all of your posts that this is the most gullible forum around. You know that deep down he would love to put up big stats. Sure he may rather have a win than score alot, but do not say that he is so mature, and ahead of the older players. He came into this league with such an image on him, NBA's golden boy, the next Jordan, the new face of the NBA. I can't stand that. He's been praised since he was in high school. He is damn good and is one of the best in the league, but it's things like this that add to his hype. Stop saying that your a team player, just shut up and go out and get your team the win anyway possible. Prove that your a team player, don't tell us.

I guess it's his fault that everyone hyped him. And I'm sure that he didnt work to get where he is and that he doesnt deserve the hype. Someone who won ROY and put up MJ like numbers surely doesnt deserve to be praised! And the guy has only averaged 6.5 apg over his career. Team player my ass, prove it more ball hog. Grow up Lebron.

I don't recall calling him a ballhog...I'm just saying he shouldn't come out to the media saying he doesn't want to drop 50 again so that he is more of a team player. I'm just saying don't keep telling us that your a team player and that you have tons of passion to win, just go out there and show us. Try to stay as humble as possible.

I agree. It's good that Lebron would rather win thean put up 50 points, but it makes him look like a some self-righteous sap by soming out and saying it publically. I mean, just go out and win the next game whatever way possible-whether it be by scoring 20 or 50- and quit trying to make yourself look like some basketball saint.

Preach. He doesn't have to tell the media, his actions will speak volumes about the way he plays. On some nights he'll have to be a scorer when his teammates are struggling, and when they are scoring he can keep feeding the hot hand. LeBron should just be concerned about the 'W' and understanding what he needs to do each night to achieve it.

Do you really think Kobe is only concerned about his points? I know the media sure paints the picture, but if you actually watch him and the Lakers then you'll clearly see he's all about winning games.

This is why you should read closely before replying.

Nice asinine response. You completely misread what J2X said.

We don't know what prompted his statement. It's possible that the media was harping on his 50 point performance -- and he was just trying to swing the focus back to the team.

Everything I've ever read about 'Bron has indicated to me that he's a team player and he wants the Cavs to perform well.

Honestly, I believe that at the beginning of the season he was. It was more a lack of trust in his teammates though so I don't blame him. Looking at the box scores I remember that nights when Kobe would score 40 this year, Lamar would shoot 3-12.

Now that others are playing better (mainly Odom, but also Smush, and sometimes Cook) Kobe is playing a lot more like Lebron.....making a helluva stat line every night.

I can't believe that people are complaining about Lebron making a statement like this. It shows that he is already light years ahead of most in the league.

This'll probably bring out the best in some insecure Sixers/Lakers fans.

Any player can just come out and say what they know the media and fans want to hear. Any player can just come out and spew out self-righteous and unselfish crap. But players like Shaq, MJ or Artest have balls and have character, and quite fankly, I respect that. Lebron is like Stern's pet, he always goes out of the way to say politically correct thing, even though that may not be what he's thinking. Some of you guys are just so naiive by thinking that Lebron is more mature than everyone else, he just has no character. I mean look at his new commercial and you can tell he has no character. I hate when people take every little thing he does as a sign that he is "light-years" ahead of other players.
