I know Kobe does care about winning but he'd like to score 50 if his team loses I love Kobe his one of my favs but Lebron is showing signs of how mature he is and his only 20. I agree the media is to hyped on Kobe only caring for himself and not the team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">Any player can just come out and say what they know the media and fans want to hear. Any player can just come out and spew out self-righteous and unselfish crap. But players like Shaq, MJ or Artest have balls and have character, and quite fankly, I respect that. Lebron is like Stern's pet, he always goes out of the way to say politically correct thing, even though that may not be what he's thinking. Some of you guys are just so naiive by thinking that Lebron is more mature than everyone else, he just has no character. I mean look at his new commercial and you can tell he has no character. I hate when people take every little thing he does as a sign that he is "light-years" ahead of other players.</div> What the hell are you geniuses copmplaining about? he was asked by a reporter how it felt to score 52 points, what the hell do you want him to say "ya i want to score 50 points everynight"? At 20 he's already more mature then so many other players and actually knows how to use the media, and not let the media use him. like with so many other athletes who come out sounding like jackasses. and dude dont be jealous of lebron
anyone in the league would rather get the win than 50 points at least any legit star, maybe not a scrub bench player, it's cool that he said it but saying that doesn't all the sudden make him a better player
Don't even try to say that lebron cares about winning more than Kobe because you're making yourself look like an idiot. Every single guy in the NBA wants to win first and foremost. I'm not complaining about Lebron's answer, I just think that all you Lebron praisers are trying to make it seem as if he's the most mature and unselfish player, when in reality any player in his position could have said the same
Lebron realizes he's the socalled "team player" the media hypes him up to be. If you look at Lebron's and Kobe's game this year, they have the same mentalities. The difference is Lebron's overhyped by everybody in the meda for being such a "team player".

And how do you know what Lebrons thinking or what kind of character he has? And whats with this whole "sterns pet" thing? Of course Stern loves him, Lebrons the future of his league, but when has he got special treatment from Stern? Anyways, lets move onto the word of the day, "self-righteous". I know it makes Lebron look bad, but lets but biases aside and see what it really means. Let me help you out, it means being absolutely sure of your morals and beliefs. So I guess what your saying is that he really is unselfish and that he really does care about winning. Couldn't agree more. It seems that you find it inconcievable for a player to rather win than score. Anyone who has lost a game and played well can tell you first hand that the points are no consolation. I'm just glad that I dont have to play on a team with you or something crazy like that. One more thing, the Cavs just lost to the Hawks, which I'm sure that you're loving. But before you start something, let me finish the argument before it starts. You say Lebron cant even make his team beat the horrible hawks. I say that the raps beat the Heat, and that Wade couldnt win it for his team. Let's just stop that one before it starts.
lebron is so great very mature of him saying this by the way where you get it from? and im sure 95% of the people here at just bball would take 50 pts, i mean i would in any kind of games, in a hs varisty game i rather take the 30 pts than a win, i look at the stat sheet and say "wow damn im good i dropped 30 today"
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bryce40ww:</div><div class="quote_post">If you think that most players say whats on their mind and not the politically correct thing then you, my friend, are the one who is naiive. </div> He's not saying that at all, he's saying he respects players like artest, shaq, and MJ who actually say what is on their mind. He's also saying that you can't praise a guy just cause he told you what you wanted to hear. The fact is that his team lost, and maybe he shoulda realized during the game that he should have done something besides score 50 so that they coud win. You're the only one that mentioned the hawks, and I don't know why this arguement is about what lebron said. I think it's good that he wants his team to win but so does every other superstar.
This is a BS statement that he can't support. What's to stop him from scoring 50 points again when the opportunity presents itself. He's not going to stop the game if he has 48 points and say, "ok can't shoot no more, heh don't wanna pick up that bad 50." Scoring 50 points doesnt determine if you win or lose, pick up your defense and see what happens. And for the record, stop kising Lebron's ass for making this so-called "mature" statement. This statement had NOTHING to do with political correctness.
I think you guys are over analyzing a cliche answer to a reporters question. I mean honestly what do you expect him to say? I love scoring points over getting wins? The players in the NBA are obviously going to say they'd take a win over scoring points, especially one of the biggest stars in the NBA who has all eyes on him and is expected to be perfect.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting STCBBall3:</div><div class="quote_post">This is why you should read closely before replying. Nice asinine response. You completely misread what J2X said.</div> It's called sarcasm my friend....
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J2X_:</div><div class="quote_post">I can't stand this quote. I feel like after listening to all of your posts that this is the most gullible forum around. You know that deep down he would love to put up big stats. Sure he may rather have a win than score alot, but do not say that he is so mature, and ahead of the older players. He came into this league with such an image on him, NBA's golden boy, the next Jordan, the new face of the NBA. I can't stand that. He's been praised since he was in high school. He is damn good and is one of the best in the league, but it's things like this that add to his hype. Stop saying that your a team player, just shut up and go out and get your team the win anyway possible. Prove that your a team player, don't tell us.</div> Next m.j... not ever happening
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Raps-CB4:</div><div class="quote_post">Next m.j... not ever happening</div> I know, that's why I can't stand people sucking up to him and acting like he is already close to Jordan's level.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bryce40ww:</div><div class="quote_post">I guess it's his fault that everyone hyped him. And I'm sure that he didnt work to get where he is and that he doesnt deserve the hype. Someone who won ROY and put up MJ like numbers surely doesnt deserve to be praised! And the guy has only averaged 6.5 apg over his career. Team player my ass, prove it more ball hog. Grow up Lebron.</div> lol hes kidding you guys lebron looks like the next MJ to me http://www.youtube.com/w/Lebron-James%2C-t...=Lebron%20James
Lebron is going to be Lebron. For Lebron to be like Jordan caliber is for him to taste big defeats like Jordan did early in his career. So he knows what it takes to win mentally and physically.
I think it's funny how people are saying how mature Lebron is when you don't know even know him. I mean sure, he has a good media image (as far as I know) and he acts like it in front of the cameras. You guys seem to forget that there's only one MJ. They're will never be another player exactly like him, they're will never be a player with the exact same game as MJ. LeBron is his own player, I can't stand it when people call him the next MJ. I mean, the kid has been in the league for a few seasons. Maybe he'll turn out better than MJ statistically, but he'll never have Jordans grace on the court. As for him not wanting to score 50 night in and night out, like Kobe for example. I don't take it as being mature or being a ball hog on the court, career average of 6.5 assists is better than most point guards so it's obvious he's not selfish like some people say. Winning is everything, and I think that's all he wants and I don't blame him for that.
