The Bobcats released the 25-year-old guard, coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff announced on Saturday.

Rush played in 47 games this season and averaged 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and shot 39 percent from the field. The fourth-year guard missed 23 games this season due to injury.

"The Bobcats are about two things - hard work and maximum effort," Bickerstaff said. "With that in mind, we think that it is best to go in a different direction with Kareem." </div>

Lazy work ethic, seems to run in his family. I just hope Brandon Rush learns from his two older brother's mistakes.

Rush was WAY too inconsistant, so I'm not suprised. This almost solidifies we get a swingman with our pick.

Wow, Bickerstaff was hard on him, implying to the media that Rush has no work ethic. About the swingman pick, now I am thinking that the Bobcats draft either Adam Morrison or Brandon Roy, the two best/safest picks for how high there pick will be.

Why did they release him? I thought he had pretty good work ethic even under the strict Phil Jackson back with the Lakers.

I'm somewhat surprised but not very. Rush was known for being lazy when he first came in but I thought he had changed. Whatever happened to JaRon?

Charlotte Observer - Kareem Rush disputed the perception that basketball isn't a passion and that he is lazy in an e-mail to the Observer Saturday night: "As for my work ethic being questioned, I feel people mistake my calm demeanor for a lack of effort, which is not the case." </div>
