Nets are reportedly offering one of two combinations to acquire Kevin Garnett. 1. Kidd, Carter and Krstic for KG 2. Kidd, Jefferson and Krstic for KG Minnesota would probably have to throw in some fillers to make the salaries match. Some combination of Jaric, Hassell, Hudson, or maybe Ricky Davis.
Huh!? What exactly is the point of this trade? Thorn your giving to much up for KG...are you serious? Where did you hear this shape?
Stephen A. Smith reported it on the radio. At first glance, it looks crazy for New Jersey, but I think the Nets can land Sam Cassell to replace Kidd. Plus the Nets could end up with Jaric, Hassell, or Ricky Davis. The trio of KG-Cassell-Jefferson is equal if not better than when the Nets made their championship runs with Kidd-KMart-Jefferson. Thorn is an active GM, and he's not gun shy. I can see this going down.

Yeah, Kg is a franchise player, but to give Minnesota 2 FRANCHISE PLAYERS and a potential all-star Krstic is inSane.
You never know. If Cassell is willing to leave LA, if we get lucky in the draft, and if we make some good off-season acquisitions, this trade would seem logical. There are too many ifs, and losing Krstic along with two superstars is too much for me. I do however back Thorn's and Stefanski's decisions though, so if they are able to pull this off, I'll be more than happy.
True! Giving up Kidd/Jefferson for KG is too much. Nets need a 4 but not at the expense of Kidd/Jefferson. What are they thinking?!!! And Cassell?!!! Give me a break! KG may be a franchise player, but how far has he taken the Wolves in the playoffs? KG/Kidd/Jefferson can bring the nets back in the finals, but trading Kidd/Jefferson for KG? Then the Nets would lose PG and swingman which brings them back to square 1.
If that deal goes down, then the Nets better get some fire power from the draft. Mile Illic I think can replace Krstic down the line. I can see this: PG: Vetern Free Agent, say Cassell SG: From draft (Or Carter) SF: Jefferson (Or From draft) PF: Garnett C: Collins Bench: Murray Vaughn Wright Zoran Free Agent Big Man Think that this is a veteran team, which is surely Championship material...it all hindges however, on the quality of what is attained from the draft. The trade is Kosher...I'd pull the trigger without hesitation if...... KG was not 30 years old. In average circumstances, KG has four excellent years left. On the other hand....the current Nets cannot win without Kidd leading them. Kidd is on his last years. He has less left than KG. As good of a PG he is, a big man like KG is more effective. Carter, lacks the championship mindset and is expendible without much hesitation (or argument's sake). If the Wolves opt for Jefferson, then the Nets keep Carter, and have a powerful combination of Garnett and Carter. Garnett rebounding and keeping the paint, Carter shooting and penetrating. Krstic, has athleticism and work ethic, and certainly potential...but lets face it, he is not even close to dominant right now, nor will be at the pace that he is developing. It is not like we are giving up a future Shaq, Patrick Ewing, or Olajawon here. And if we are, then we have to wait a lot of years anyway to win a championship. In sum: This deal would: 1) Freshen up the Nets. 2) Conceivably propel them to a championship. 3) Significantly change future plans, i.e. building around Krstic and Jefferson. I personally think that a change would be exiting. I only wish that Garnett was less than 28 years old.
Garnett may a have a few more years left than Kidd, but I think that one without the other won't do much. The Nets may get Cassell at point but didn't we see the Cassell/Garnett combination already? And what happened? A Kidd, Jefferson, Garnett trio is the best situation for the Nets. Frankly I'd rather see Carter be traded rather than Jefferson. The Nets can rebuild around RJ in the future. Carter is 1 man team and always will be, he will always look for his shots first. True he is a great scorer, no arguments there, but he won't give the Nets a championship.
He just turned thirty. He's hungry, and he's not just going to quit because he's getting a little older. And in the Eastern Conference, KG would have a field day... or, should I say, 76?
Nets shouldn't have to give up more than 1 of the big 3 for KG and I pray to God that it's Carter and not Kidd nor Jefferson. I can live with giving up Krstic if we're getting KG, but I also wouldn't want to give up both draft picks. Just one.

KG would be even more effective in the Eastern Conference. I also agree with, Ma3oxuct with Mile Ilic replacing Kristic. There was an article after the game about Kristic receiving the silent treatment from his teammates. He completely disappeared when it mattered most. I like Kristic, but he's never going to be the impact player KG is. Kristic is also on the final year of his rookie contract and will want a large contract extension. I don't think Thorn wants to pay the amount Kristic is going to ask for. I've never been a Vince Carter fan. He's an amazing and gifted player, but he lacks that killer instinct to win a title. Physically he's off the charts, but mentally he's not strong enough to win it all. Jason Kidd is one of my favorite players, but he looked really old in both series. Anthony Johnson and Dwyane Wade scored on him anytime they wanted. I still think Kidd is one of the best PGs in the game, but he has lost a step and is on the decline. PG - Cassell (MLE) or Marcus Banks SG - Trenton Hassell (via trade) SF - Richard Jefferson PF - KG (via trade) C - Collins The Nets can add two solid rookies with their 1st round picks and maybe recruit another veteran for the LLE.
i would only like this trade if carter stays cause even though jefferson has more potentail and maybe be a better rebounder carter is still my favorite palyer and seeing him and kg would be more entertaining than seeing jefferson and kg
