    What are some tips to making a banner? Can someone answer the question this time, i dont care if your not on the GFX team, just if you have tips.

    Legibility. That's all that matters.

    Pretty much. Big titles, sites love big titles of their names. You need to catch a guest's attention in the matter of 2 seconds.

    The banner of the site almost shows the professionalism of the site.

    It's basically the intro of the site, if the banner is ugly and busy then what does the viewer going to think of the rest of the site?

    The old saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover" gets thrown out the window when it comes to the internet. Everything is about eyecandy.

    Something clean, direct to the point is always a good way to go.

    Try to stray away from all the filters and blending options as you can. Use them sparingly.

    ESPN's banner is nice, clean and straight to the point. No BS kiddy stuff. And that shows the reader that the site is a legit site.

    IMO if you get too caught up with the graphics on the banner, then the site just looks too playfull and may draw back adult members.
