<div class="quote_poster">phunDamentalz Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">my point is by sticking to the exact same subject matter and the same type of beats over several years, Nas becomes boring. when Nas becomes boring, other people such as Nelly and T.I. and Lil Jon and 50 Cent get opportunties. That's what kills hip-hop.</div>

    co-sign

hip-hop is not basketball... you can't comapre reggie miller to nas... all rapping is about is writing lyrics, and if nas can't come up with fresh material, then what service is he doing the listener? it's not like his beats are fresh, he steals those from legit artists.

co-sign on the dre point too... that guy is one of the most brilliant artists in the history of hip-hop, but so many people hate the guy because he has so much mass appeal these days and because he's not a poser thug... he's just real... a real musician, a real rapper, a real artist... juxtapose southernplayalisticcadillacfunkymuzik or crumblin erb with prototype or hey ya ... thats versatility.

You're placing too much emphasis on subject matter, Nas isnt a subject matter rapper, he's in the same category as Big L, Mobb Deep, Kool G. Rap etc. in that his talent is in his overall delivery, his flow, multies, metaphors, wordplay etc.

Hip-Hop is more about subject matter, Rap is more about lyrical ability.

This CD is one of the best of the year if not THE best. Every song on the CD is worth listening too more than once..even his song with Kelis lol. From the the opening track to the end the album is great.

Question, I heard Chris Webber made a beat to one of the songs on the album. Is that true?

Chris Webber has been producing for many years now, apparentley he has done work for other big name artists, but under an alias.

I really like the song Hustlers ft. Game, Dre did a hell of a job on the beat as always. The CD overall is the best of 06 IMO.

I just got a few tracks and I have to admit, it's way better than streets disciple which just left a bad taste in my mouth.
Hustlers and Let There Be Light are very strong tracks.

Well if you compare any album to Illmatic then you're going to be disapointed.
