    I am curious to see who agrees that this is a joke. Dumars- a first ballot hall of famer? youve got to be kidding me. 16ppg, 2rpg, 4.5apg. WOW.

    well, its not about the numbers, its more about winning. Two championships early in his career with the ISIAH led Pistons. dumars did win the finals mvp one year though- how that single feat puts him in the Hall, i dont know. So what happened when isiah got hurt in 93-94- the pistons fell off the map. Dumars never led them anywhere. I believe they did reach the 2nd round one year when HILL led them there.

    its just beyond me that this guy is in. the HALL isnt the citizenship award.

    let the discussion begin.

    16ppg, 2rpg, 4.5apg.....

    Damn, not hating on the guy but that's not the most impressive stat line. In my eyes you have got to be something really special to get into the NBA's Hall of Fame.

    His stats work against him but the two championships work for him. I am also quite sure that if he's going to get into HOF then it will be argued that other players haven't been fairly treated.
    I don't think he should be put into the HOF, yes his jersey retired and other awards but no HOF.

    Isn't the reward of having a Championship supposed to be having won the championship.

    His career as a GM definitely gives him extra points. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be considered, but surely it was.

    Joe Dumars is one my all time favorites, but I don't if I'd even consider him to be a HOF, let alone a 1st ballot one. Joe D was always second fiddle to Isiah Thomas.

    The HOF is a joke and will continue to be one with the current system they have for electing players.

    I'm going to disagree with everyone in here and say that he deserves it.....stats are sometimes overrated...those might have been "Zeke's teams" , but many regard Dumars as the best perimeter defender to ever play the game....that alone makes him a HOF in my eyes.....

    Its definitely because he got the 2 as a player and now one as a GM. If he didn't get in for what he did as a player(which was still impressive NTM he didn't play a very long career)hes definitely going to get nominated for what he did/will do as a GM. I can see future titles for the Pistons during his era as GM.

    Jordan himself said Dumars was the best defensive player he ever went up against. He had some great games in that series against the Lakers where he got the MVP. I dunno if that's enough personally..... I'd have to think about it.

    I don't think it is just the NBA HoF that is having troubles with nominations like this, it's basically every sport's HoF. Seems like the standards for nominations have declined, or that the HoF has already elected plenty of unworthy inductions. The HoF, in any sport, should be hallowed ground. It should be reserved for the "best of the best." I'm not knocking Joe D, but he wasn't even one of the three best shooting guards of his era. Kinda hard to put him in if he wasn't even dominant in his own time.

    ^^^"defense" people "defense"...we always talk about how important it is yet when someone who was one of the greatest if not the greatest perimeter defender of all time is inducted into the hall we say something is wrong with the system...anyone who is one of the best defenders should get an automatic knod into the hall.
