It has been reported by Mark Berman, and on Fox 26 news, that Bonzi Wells will opt out of free agency. He has sent in the necessary paper work to stay in Houston. He will be making $2,800,000.00 this season. Great news! Bonzi played his best ball under Rick Adelman. Alston/James/Lucas/Spanoulis T-Mac/Bonzi/Head/Spanoulis Battier/Snyder Hayes/Novak Yao/Deke
lol igotask8board you beat me to it. Heres the link for the article though: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/pages/Sp...TY&pageId=6.5.1
Great news. Lets hope Bonzi plays as good as he was expected. He will have a great role in next year's season + playoff run. GO ROCKETS!
yey. hope the he does better the 2nd time around. So I'm guessing one or more of these people are going to be traded: Head/Snyder/Battier/Spanoulis/Lucas
I'm wondering how Adelman is going to use him in the lineup. If it's between Bonzi and Battier, which one should start? I can see both of them starting actually, with one of them playing at PF.
Bonzi off the bench behind TMac. Shane don't work at 4 and Bonzi is better overpowering guards. Rockets tried Shane at the 4 beginning last year..It didn't work out He's not strong enough and it takes him away from being the best perimeter defender so TMac doesn't have to do it. Under contract Skip/M.James/L.Head/JLIII/VSpan/Sura TMac/Bonzi Shane/Snyder Novak/Reed Yao
Battier is not a PF, nor is Bonzi. Taking these 2 players away from their natural positions significantly reduces their effectivity. Not playing Bonzi as a guard is a bad idea when he is good at taking advantage and overpowering guards. Taking Battier away from the wing, renders him useless as he is a great perimeter defender. Moe is right that Battier just isn't strong enough for PF.
Great news, I remember last year he felt like a steal but then didn't turn out to be what I expected, I'm glad he's returned and JVG has left as it seems he was the cause of Bonzi's issues and who better to have coach him Adelman! Things are looking bright now to look to the draft. PF is the weakest spot IMO are other Rockets fans happy with Hayes? I'm not!
Good news. If he can get in shape and dedicates himself in a way he never did last season, he can be a key contributor.
Hayes is a good solid backup, but a starter for a championship contender? I don't think so. He's great, but we need a different starter to get far.
<div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I'm sensing with Ricky here that Chucky won't be back..........</div> Nope. Morey loves Chuck. There's no doubt that he'll be resigned. Whether Adelman gives him regular minutes remains to be seen.

When Bonzi came to the team, the Bonzi naysayers (who shall remain nameless ) jumped to the silly conclusion, "Bonzi's all about the $$$", "Bonzi doesn't care about winning", "Bonzi's gonna opt out for more $$$ after the season". Well, um, he didn't. He stayed in Houston because he wants to win. Maybe he wasn't so selfish after all <div class="quote_poster">bronbron23 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">PF is the weakest spot IMO are other Rockets fans happy with Hayes? It worked decent in the regular season, but totally collapsed in the playoffs. We're in need of PF bad

You have selective memory don't you. Next thing, you are going to claim that Juwan was why we won our first two games.
The horrid PF situation all goes back to S.Swift being bum with no real skill except that he can dunk. If Varejao is signed I would question whether Chuck comes back because they play a lot alike.

He's staying because we brought in Adelman (who should give him a lot more playing time), and because he needs a another season to try to boost his plummeting market value. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting moeinhouston:</div><div class="quote_post">The horrid PF situation all goes back to S.Swift being bum with no real skill except that he can dunk. Chuck wants to stay in Houston by all accounts, and as long as Morey is making the decisions Chuck will have a spot here. He gives you so much bang for the buck, there's no reason not to keep him.

Both played poorly but Chuck Hayes wouldn't have started on any other team besides a JVG coached one. He's not a starter. Howard should've got the nod.
