It's on Outside the Lines on ESPN right now!

    - Confirmed, Kevin Garnett made a phone call to Kobe Bryant last night.

    - KG wanted re-assurance that Kobe would rescind his trade demands and remain a Laker if he (KG) gets traded to the Lakers.

    - According to Ric "the mouthpiece" Bucher, Kobe doesn't speculate on "if's", and if KG does end up being traded to the Lakers, Kobe would just "re-valuate his demands." Meaning, it's not necessarily a guarantee he'll back off his trade demand, but he'll just take a 2nd look at it. (WTF Kobe).

    - Chad Ford says that there's still life regarding the KG to L.A. trade.

    WTF

    WTF????

Kobe wanted to be traded to a contender....with Garnett, the signing of a legitamate PG via the MLE, the Lakers will be a contender. Maybe some minor trades between now and the febuary trade deadline and the Lakers would be very dangerous come playoff time. What more does Kobe want? I'm (like all of you) Kobe's biggest fan but WTF???

What situation does Kobe have in mind that would be better than Garnett on the Lakers? The only other two scenarios that would be better are the Suns and Dallas. Even then, it wouldn't be Kobe's team, it'd be Nash's and Dirks respectively. Garnett in LA would give Kobe his contender, he'd still be the hometown hero, and it'd still be his team.

First off I really don't see how any source could have gotten Kobe's exact words from that conversation with KG considering I wouldn't imagine KG running to the media right after getting off the phone. Second there's no doubt in my mind, or in almost anyone's for that matter, that if the Lakers get KG there is 0% chance Kobe is leaving any time soon. I know that, Kobe knows that, KG knows that along with everyone else involved with basketball. The Lakers already don't want to trade Kobe, and even if he still wanted out the team would not trade him if they have KG.

I think Bucher is just saying that to save face. His mantra for the last week has been that Kobe wasn't coming back regardless of the moves the Lakers make.

He just doesn't want to look like a fool.

If Kevin Garnett is officially a Laker, there is no way Kobe will still want to be traded. If he does continue with his demands despite having someone like KG on the roster, wow, he's going to be hated by not only Laker fans, but Kevin Garnett fans and Laker management as well.

Yeah exactly. After KG and Kobe talked, KG ran to the media and taped his conversation so everyone could hear. It makes no sense. He could even be asking how his family is doing. Anything.

Great point. Bucher said he'd bet his life on it, I don't think Bucher is ready for death.

It really doesn't matter what Kobe demands anyways. He's still under contract for two seasons. Him and KG would be teammates for at least two years.

I think he's running a basketball camp for kids in LA.

    Yes, I 2nd that.

Remeber, it was Ric "I think I'm Kobe's lips" Bucher who was the one saying just a week ago that a KG trade to LA has "a zero percent chance of happening." And look how far it's gotten since.

For KG to actually call Kobe Bryant says how serious this is.

Seriously? He's probably so distracted. I bet him and all of the kids are huddled around the TV set watching ESPNEWS and Kobe keeps fielding calls on his cell phone from his agent, the Lakers, and others. [IMG]

ANYWAYS- <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Bucher is just saying that to save face. His mantra for the last week has been that Kobe wasn't coming back regardless of the moves the Lakers make.

Well said- Kobe knows this would be his best shot at winning, him and KG are buddies, AND if for some reason Kobe did still want out, he's too image cautious to do it. The entire league would hate him.

^ I was saying I wonder what Kobe is doing right now because I'm wondering what he's thinking. Is he excited? Is he thinking this is all being done too late? Is he talking to Garnett or the Lakers trying to get this thing done? Is he actually still considering leaving the Lakers? That's all, I just want to know what's going through his head right now.

^ gotcha. Ya, I think he's preparing for a basketball camp, though I certainly hope he's doing everything in his power to get KG.

That would be funny as hell if Kobe was on this forum. LOL He's probably frustrated because the Lakers can't give him any talent around him. He's probably wondering when they are gonna trade for someone like KG, Jermaine O'Neal, or even Artest.
