<div class="quote_poster">Umair Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I personally think Boston got ripped of on this deal. They traded away a future prospect plus they get a 32 year old in Allen like Stephen Smith said. Boston I know is trying to win right now, but this is a bad deal for their future. I liked that they wanted a sidekick for Pierce, but for the future of Boston, this was a bad deal especially giving up the 5th pick. I know it has to take a lot to take Allen, but Celtics future doesnt look too good.</div> They still have Al Jefferson...
And what is that suppose to mean? With the 5th pick they could've gotten Yi or Brandon Wright both big time players. I just didn't like them adding that 5th pick. This will hurt their future, but atleast they'll make the playoffs next year. Hopefully..

Yi is like 24, Allen is 32. I said I liked that they wanted to win right now and bring in a sidekick for Pierce, but this year will hurt their future.

Allen >>>>>>>>>> Yi or Wright. I like this trade from both sides really, I didn't like the pick of Jeff Green at first but after reading more about him I think that he will bring alot to the team and I love getting Delonte West. But you guys get a great great player in Ray Allen. The real newsmaker though is Ray Allen and Allan Ray on the same team.
Allen is good but he'll probably retire in 5 years? I am just saying when you have a high pick like that in one of the deepest drafts, you don't want to let the chance go. Boston really don't or probaly won't' have a good future player after Allen retires. This trade isn't so lop-sided because Boston got allen. They want to win right now, so I guess that's one thing good. See now I love the trade from sonics view. They get Durant, Green, and most likely will keep Lewis. Heck of a deal if you're a Sonics fan.

I understand what you are saying, but if he retires in 5 years, you still got 5 more years to build up the future. It's not like he's a 1 year rental. Most importantly you keep your star happy and in Boston without giving up your true future in Al Jefferson.
I definitely think Boston improved their roster for NOW. They are definitely a playoff contender. But I don't really believe that getting Ray Allen puts them over the top, into championship contention.

That's why this trade isn't so bad. Boston now gets a two man deadly combo in allen/pierce, hopefully that can work out. But I mean if they do good they won't get another chance in the lottery. But they can always trade and stuff like that, so this trade isn't bad. But if you look this trade from a Sonic fan's view, it seems as if they raped Celts. But this is an ok trade for both teams though. Glad Pierce got what he wanted.

They also have Tony Allen as well, same last name.. haha. It'll be confusing to listen to the Celtics on the radio next year.

Boston was known for just collecting young talent and going nowhere. It's time to take a stand and sacrificing the 5th pick (who isn't Oden or Durant) is low-risk for a bon-a-fide star who averages 26 PPG.
Think of it this way Umair: if Boston doesn't do this trade, not only do they not get a big-time SG in Ray Allen, but they probably also lose Paul Pierce when he demands a trade. Sure this is a move geared towards contending now, but if they didn't make this trade they'd have to start a major rebuilding process. Out of all the superstar trades we've heard surround the Celtics, this one probably makes the most sense.
<div class="quote_poster">hustler Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Who will be wearing 34?</div> ...Pierce.
<div class="quote_poster">Master Shake Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I think Allen will take 32 maybe or 35. Stay in the 30's. Maybe he'll pick 3, that isn't taken yet.</div> Both of which are retired. As is #3. I like the fact that we haven't traded Ratliff yet. His contract along with Sebastian tells me that Boston isn't done with trading, I'm also not too keen on Glen Davis and don't expect him to play too much with all the undersized Power Forwards we have.
At first I thought surely ainge has lost it all doing this, but I see slightly (only slightly) the reasaoning for this trade: you guys also get the rights to glen davis, who, remember, there was talks about him being in the lottery 2 years ago (whom I thought is a steal at 35) and you guys also get rid of wally. But, even with ray allen (coming off of double ankle surgery, at 32 years of age) and everyone healthy, boston is still at best a I would guess a 4-6th team in the east, with detroit, cleveland, and chi maybe even miami) being more likely to win the east than the celtics. And at that point bos will be too good to get another lottery pick, all this time when PP and RA are not getting any younger. We can only hope PP is pacified for now with this trade and RA brings some life back into Bos.
I agree with Umair, I don't like this trade for Boston but I can see why they did it. They feel the pressure to win now, and a core of Allen, Pierce, and Jefferson looks damn good (on paper at least). I'm glad Allen is out of the western conference though, guy is a fucking ball buster and just annoying to watch your team play against.
Not when Kobe Bryant stuffs his **** I like this trade for the Celtics, they don't lose Pierce. With Jefferson now having arguably the deadliest three point shooter in the NBA to kick out to, the Boston Celtics should handle the Atlantic division. This also takes some of the load off of Pierce. I also like the trade for Seattle, they continue building for the future. They could be a playoff team next year.
