<p class="ss-text-bold">Chelsea's stars are starting to build up a head of steam, after all the off-field controversy.</p> Boss Avram Grant has managed four wins out of six since taking over from Jose Mourinho after the opening round draw with Norwegian minnows Rosenborg.</p> Didier Drogba scored a superb winner as The Blues beat Group B's form team Valencia 2-1 away last time out.</p> <div align="left">Since then the Ivorian international has moved to reassure the Chelsea faithful of his commitment to the club, though news of his ongoing relationship with his former manager is a slight worry for the future.</div> </p> <h4>Form</h4> Solid Premier League wins away against Bolton Wanderers and Middlesbrough have lifted spirits though, and the West Londoners are look</p> ing to keep up their recent improvement.</p> Captain John Terry and left-back Ashley Cole are still out following their injuries sustained on international duty with England.</p> And their German opponents have a good record away from home this season.</p> <h5>Defence</h5> Schalke sit fifth in the Bundesliga and remain unbeaten away from home in the league in the current campaign.</p> Victory at Rosenborg last time out has boosted their chances of qualification after the opening day defeat at home to Valencia.</p> But coach Mirko Slomka will have to do without influential German international Christian Pander for Wednesday night.</p> Defender Mladen Krstajic is back in contention though as Schalke look to take advantage of a group that is currently wide open.</p> <div align="center"></div>

<p class="ss-text-bold">It seems little has changed under Avram Grant's reign after a typically regimental Chelsea display secured a 2-0 victory over German side Schalke.</p> </p> Goals from Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba handed the home side all three points in what was a fairly uneventful and uninspiring 90 minutes.</p> </p> Grant's side were handed the lead after just four minutes when Malouda's squirted effort slid under Manuel Neuer.</p> </p> Chelsea doubled their lead and wrapped up the points early in the second half when Drogba headed home from an inviting Paulo Ferreira cross.</p> </p> Schalke posed little threat going forward which made it easy for the Chelsea, however in what seemed like a golden opportunity to demonstrate the so-called injection of flair football; Grant's men put on a familiarly efficient and professional display.</p> </p>
Good win nonetheless for Chelsea.</p> Schalke played good as well but just couldn't score.</p> You're a Patriots fan? Niceee. </p>
2-0 not bad, atleast we've started to keep cleansheets again.</p> and now were top of the group</p> <table width="200" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1" border="1"> <caption>Champions League Group B</caption> <tbody> <tr> <td>Club</td> <td>Pld</td> <td>W</td> <td>D</td> <td>L</td> <td>GF</td> <td>GA</td> <td>Pts</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Chelsea</td> <td>3</td> <td>2</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>5</td> <td>2</td> <td>7</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Rosenborg</td> <td>3</td> <td>1</td> <td>1</td> <td>1</td> <td>3</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Valencia</td> <td>3</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>2</td> <td>2</td> <td>4</td> <td>3</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Schalke</td> <td>3</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>2</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>3</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
at the moment it looks like it will be Chelsea and Rosenborg.</p> If Rosenborg lose to Valencia at the mestalla and Chelsea win in Gelsinkirken, Chelsea will have qualified.</p>
Yeah, you guys have pretty much won that spot with this game. And how about Avram, he's doing good. </p>
A pretty routine win but a win none the less. Not as good as Arsenal last night though. Banging in 7</p>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DDRickyDD)</div><div class='quotemain'></p> yeah but Schalke are better than Slavia.</p> </div></p> and better than Besiktas too...lol</p> </p>
