He is one of the all time greats at the position, but he wasn't the greatest nor was he a transcendent talent. Being ahead of one's time does not make them transcendent.

If you did an internet search for "best nfl linebacker of all time," I'd guess that 90% of the links would list Taylor #1, and the other 10% #2. You're on your own with this one.
