http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/59573/20090603/jackson_bans_use_of_phones_during_finals/ Seems like Phil is really serious this time around. Hopefully it pays off. I also like how they're staying away from the big city. This means less chances for players *cough* *cough* Lamar to go out and party until 3 AM the day before a game.
Odom doesn't party at 3AM, he goes to 7-11 for more candy. Phil is a hell of a lot more determined than last year. Good God, I'm excited.
"Coach Phil Jackson told us to turn our cellphones off for the next two weeks and not to talk to anybody," center Andrew Bynum told the Los Angeles Times. I seriously doubt Bynum said that. Bad quoting by the reporter. Probably said "he", "Coach" or "Phil".
As a professional journalist, his job it to get quotes 100% accurate. The quote needs to be spoken word by word by Bynum for it to be used. Unless he uses brackets. A few more of these and I bet the reporter is long gone from the newspaper.
As I said, I seriously doubt Bynum said that. Too formal. But obviously, he could have. I'm not judging the reporter, just pointing out what I think could be an error.
Well I'm thinking maybe Bynum did say that. Him and Jackson have some problems right now, maybe he said it sarcastically? Who knows, doesn't really matter though.
I agree about the quote; sounds wrong. Good to see Phil enforce these kinds of rules, especially with the hotel thing. Just as long as the Candy Man gets his hourly supply of sweets.
