<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- All-Star Tony Parker paced the San Antonio Spurs for much of the way before Manu Ginobili took over down the stretch.

Parker scored 28 points and Ginobili added 22 - including his team's final 14 points - as the Spurs posted a 106-99 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Behind the efforts of Parker and Ginobili, San Antonio (57-16) pushed its lead for the best record in the Western Conference and Southwest Division over idle Dallas (54-19) to three games.

In what was a tight fourth quarter, Parker's jumper with 2:56 remaining gave the Spurs the lead for good at 92-90. Ginobili then took over.

Ginobili sank two foul shots with 2:20 left before drilling a 3-pointer for a 97-91 lead 35 seconds later. The 6-6 slasher added another jumper for a three-point play to offset a layup by Caron Butler for a six-point advantage with 59 seconds to go.

Ginobili sank his final six free throws, giving San Antonio its sixth straight home win over Washington.

Parker made 10-of-17 shots and 8-of-11 free throws. He added six rebounds and six assists.

Tim Duncan collected 16 points and 14 boards for the Spurs.

Gilbert Arenas had 31 points and eight assists to pace Washington (37-35), which completed a 3-3 road trip. The Wizards are one-half game in front of Milwaukee for fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

Antawn Jamison added 26 points and eight rebounds and Butler 21 and nine for the Wizards, who shot 51 percent (37-of-73).</div>

Well it was obvious that we were gonna lose to the defending champions but I was hoping that they might come back from that loss to houston. I hope the wizards do not fall into a slump, they are barely ahead of the bucks in the play offs, however we can still count on Arenas, Jamison, and Butler to put on those points when we need them. They shouldn't lose anymore games until the Heat game. :no1:

Dang, this sucks.Only 9 games left for both teams, and Dallas trails by 3 games. The Mavericks still have one head-to-head match, so assuming that Dallas wins that game, the Mavericks will have to edge out 2.5 games on the Spurs in the other 8 games.
