Even if Spain beat every team 7-0 leading up to the semis and lost 1-0 to US they still only be able to get third.
I just cant belive that they are just that dominate and lose to a bunch of scrubs that shuldnt of gotten out of pool play...
a bunch of scrubs who shouldn't have gotten out of group play is not a very good way to describe the US team.
US played a flawless game and that's what it took to beat the best team in the world. Great goalie play was the key to victory. Spain outshot the US 29-9.
Agreed, Tim Howard was greatl. He was able to fend off a 15-20 or so minute onslaught at the beginning of the second half.
bosnia had had pretty good results in their last couple of qualifiers against belgium. not as impressive as beating egypt 3-0 and ending spain's 35 game unbeaten streak, but still impressive.
In the NBA, any club can beat anybody on a given night; in American Football, same thing. In Baseball same thing. This is not a soccer particularity at all. NE Patriots go 18-0 and lose in the final to a wild card team. Arizona Cardinals beat some teams thought to be better, to reach the final last year. In reality, usually in soccer as in these other sports, the stronger team win.
Egypt is alright and they were missing 6 key players from what I've heard and beating Spain was nothing special because that day they would have lost to anyone. And beating Belgium 2 times in a row is more impressive And Edin Dzeko winning the Bundesliga Footballer of the Year is also impressive. But Congratulations, I still will predict you will get an early exist in the World Cup like you did in 2006. And in 2006 you never scored a goal, remember that? If you say of we have one goal forced now that was an own goal by the Italians now that is sad. I still love you though rocketeer
the US scored a goal against ghana in a game they lost 2-1. and yes, even though it was an own goal, the US scored a goal against italy.
the ball went in italy's goal. that's all that really matters. own goals don't count any more or less.
