Michigan State coach Tom Izzo is trying to gauge Cleveland's chances of re-signing LeBron James before he decides whether to jump to the NBA. One source told Yahoo! Sports that Izzo "isn't even sure who has a relationship with [James]." The Cavaliers haven't given Izzo a timetable to decide on their five-year, $30 million offer, but he isn't expected to wait much longer to make a final decision. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AvM0z0jlmq_pH4m7ul0I9Ee8vLYF?slug=ys-izzocavs061310
If it comes down to he has to know LeBron's coming back to sign on the dotted line, this ain't happening until mid July, if ever. I doubt that Grant and Gilbert want to wait that long.
I'm not sure why the Cavs feel the need to fill the job right now. They know this is how it's going to be with basically anyone they go after. Why not just wait until July?
Because at some point, LeBron's going to have to make a decision, and you don't want him coming back and asking "who's the coach" when he picks up the pen and not have an answer. Everything I'm reading points to Brian Shaw or Byron Scott. One of these candidates I love, one I'd like for about a year before I got burnt out on him.
