I kinda want Ghana to win, being the only African team left in the tournament. Uruguay 2-3 Ghana (or I can see the game being tied and going to penalties)
If we go by the thread title logic, it's probably Uruguay 2-1 Ghana. But let's wait to see Ronan's answer.
When Uruguay aren't lazy, they're one of the best. That may seem odd considering that as long as we've been watching football Uruguay has never lived up to what they achieved so long ago. This squad is nothing like we've seen in our lifetimes before. They have the perfect mix of youth and experience. Players that are older are still in their prime and some of the younger ones play as though they've been to the World Cup once or twice already. To top that off, the squad is deep at every position. Analysts thought that goalkeeping might be an issue for them, but Fernando Muslera has really stepped up and has arguably been one of the top three at his position so far. Their defensive four look superb when they're on form. Maxi Pereira has been the best defender of the tournament so far in my honest opinion. In the midfield, Diego Pérez has been a workhorse. If he continues to work hard, we will see him everywhere to close down attacks. What impresses me most is that he reads attacks very well and is highly skilled at sliding tackles for a midfielder. Up front, do I even need to go there? I'm just going to write that I'm waiting for Nicolás Lodeiro to show off what he can do. I don't know if he'll start against Ghana, but if he is given the chance to take free kicks I'm sure the goals will start pouring in for Uruguay. He should be played up front opposite Luis Suárez. Conclusion - If Uruguay are on, they will destroy a likely depleted Ghanaian squad.
I'd love to see Ghana win this one, but I don't see that happening. The US counter attack was able to the ball forward quickly and players had space. When you have Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan instead of Robbie Findley and Jozy Altidore, that will get you goals.
