For those partial two years Walton was the best player on the planet. His UCLA 4 years and the Blazers first few seasons Walton was dominate. In HS Walton was injured and couldn't run up and down the court that well but he had great outlet passes and they won the CA state championship without Walton even going down court that often. If we could have keep that Blazer team together and gotten even a half year out of Walton and was healthy for the playoffs we would have won multiple championships. The year after the championship we were by far the best team in the NBA until Walton went down with a injury. Walton was voted one of the best 50 players of all time in the NBA from those first few seasons with the Blazers. He made his team mates a lot better then they were in college and with the Blazers. He was a great passer, rebounder, played great defense, best outlet passes and made everyone on his team better.
I'm going to jump in here and say I think jl was comparing Aldridge's talent to Hollins, not Walton. Walton is the best Blazer ever, but oh too briefly.
I said no because I don't think Aldridge will be long enough for that but if for some reason he is here long enough I would have said yes.
Oops, I worded it ambiguously and BBert is right. I am the biggest Walton fan on the board, having watched every college game he played on local TV when I lived in Los Angeles. UCLA games were tape-delayed. The telecast always started a few minutes after the game ended.
Oh yeah? Well I just ate 2 bags of Cheez-its after a bowl of rice. Next I may eat some peanuts, then I'm off for some McDonald's Sausage McMuffins. Top that!
I think all-star minutes played is more revealing than number of all-star games in LMAs case: 4 points on 2 for 7 shooting (.286) in just over 20 minutes played. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aldrila01.html#all_star::none
