Why is that 'scary'? Meyers went 15/13/2 blocks in his last summer league game. Lopez will clearly start, but the people praying that Leonard is a bust on this board don't share the sentiment of some writers who follow the NBA.
It sounds like you also don't share the sentiments of some writers who follow the NBA as you think Lopez will clearly start. Not so bad, and often more accurate when it comes to your own team, disagreeing with writers who follow the NBA.
Here is the list of NBA centers who had a PER of 18+, WS of .1+, and played over 25 mpg, as well as over 60 games. http://www.basketball-reference.com...at=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=per Player that fit the true center criteria, sorted by PER. 1 Brook Lopez 24.7 2 Al Horford 19.8 . 3 Marc Gasol 19.5 4 Tyson Chandler 18.9 5 Robin Lopez 18.9 6 Joakim Noah 18.1 Which of them shouldn't be starting?
I suggest you look at actual statistics, which I just provided, and tell my Lopez shouldn't be a starter.
The craziest thing of that list to me is the Robin L. has the second-highest FG% and second-highest FT% of the 'elite' centers from last year who actually could suit up for 75% of their games.
I do think Lopez should be starting on this team. My point was you seem to try and discredit posters (about Leonard) because national writers think otherwise, yet you also think otherwise (Robin is a starter) from national writers.
Who did I try to discredit about Leonard? I only suggested that perhaps Meyers has a better perceived around the national NBA than he does on this board. His board image has been crafted by 3 or 4 posters, anyhow, who seem to think the guy is a total bust, regardless of any statistics suggesting otherwise. I've yet to see the poster here who thinks Leonard is going to be some sort of superstar center, but there are some who wanted him traded instead of Jeff Withey, who is 2 years older than Leonard, and struggled in summer league because he gets lost defensively, other than weakside shot blocking.
OK fair enough. Leonard (and Lopez) will have have ample opportunities this season to show us Blazer fans if they are keepers. I think both are, but I do wonder if Lopez is a true NBA starting center or if the stars just happen to align for him last season to put up those kinds of numbers. I'm hoping he proves to be a quality NBA starting center, because the Blazers sure do need one.
Wait, so your post wasn't a Strawman? What value have you added to this thread in terms of stats or opinion, other than saying I agree with you, which I don't?
Lopez has a career PER of 16.4 with a career USG of 18.8. He's a very efficient player with a career WS/48 of .116. It's not like he sucked before last year. For $5m, he's an absolute steal, based on his first 4 years in the league.
I didn't read that part. I read that Leonard would give Lopez a tough run for the starting spot. But I agree that writers can be fucking idiots. Even the chad fords
I discredit Leonard because I've watched him closely. I've also watched Lopez because I wanted him two seasons ago.
