At this point clearly Boomer is talking about MSL, and while I am sure he has some info I still don't see it.

YES MSL was unhappy with Stevie Y after the Olympic snub and wanted out, but I have to believe TB can get more than rental/worse player Cally for MSL.

10:35PM: St. Louis’ no-move expires at the end of the year but Steve Yzerman isn’t interesting in renting a player. If he makes a trade he wants a player with term. (Kypreos)

10:20PM: It’s believed that St. Louis asked for a trade after he was left off Canada. It is not known if he still feels the same way right now. (Nick Kypreos)

10:11PM: There is no trade of St. Louis for Callahan in the works and he doesn’t believe that St. Louis will be traded since it would send a bad message in a year where the team has surprised. (Erik Erlendsson)

He adds that any supposed bad feelings lingering between Steve Yzerman and Marty St. Louis were probably smoothed over by the gold medal.(Erik Erlendsson)

Larry Brooks reports that there is no pending trade for Marty St. Louis though the Rangers have inquired about him. (NY Post)

Brooks says that Glen Sather has inquired about St. Louis on and off since St. Louis was originally passed over for Team Canada but Steve Yzerman’s, the Tampa Bay GM, “absolute lack of interest in dealing his leading scorer in exchange for a rental property has been made clear to the Rangers.” (NY Post)

The Rangers are not willing to trade the required young players, prospects and or picks, along with Ryan Callahan, to acquire St. Louis. St. Louis does have a full-no move clause. (NY Post)

St. Louis was the likely player that Boomer Esiason has been referring to in his tweets.

Well Eklund is saying its the Oilers and Yakupov, not an EC team and an Olympian, so I guess Boomer was wrong on this one...:MARIS61::MARIS61:

Boomer heard about this deal 4 weeks ago and is now saying it goes down unless Cally lowers his contract demands OR someone (Yzerman)gets cold feet.

I think Yzerman already has cold feet and I bet there is nothing to this

The total uproar among TB fans, bloggers and reporters probably didnt help too much although Im not sure how much that affects GMs

Under no circumstances can we trade cally along with a good prospect and a high draft pick for St. Louis. I wish the Yakupov trade rumors were true. That would excite me.

Callahan is not moving off of his asking price of seven-years and a cap hit of $6.85 million per season. (NY Post)

And ladies and gentleman I give you exhibit 1 in the after affects of blocking too many shots with your head. Acute delusionalism sets in and you think you are a superstar.

Dis, until i see Callahan in front of a microphone, whether it be a press conference or talking to a reporter about his demands, i'm not going to take what a clown newspaper like the NY posts says very seriously.

No doubt you take it ALL with a grain of salt. None of us know the exact #'s or what he is looking for exactly, but a lot of people have reported he is looking for 6.5 mill per + for 5 years or more. I have seen it in the post. On NHL Network. On ESPN. When there is that much smoke there is some fire.

So no we don't know exact #'s of course, but to me it seems pretty clear he is asking for a pretty high amount based on all that has been written and said.

Guess we'll see how it all plays out.

it doesn't matter how many places you've heard the same #. All it takes is 1 source to throw out a # and once it gets out all the other sources are going to start reporting it b/c they're not going to be the ones left behind not covering the news. Again, until i see a direct quote from Cally saying his demands are what's being published, i'm not going to call him crazy, or a dick, or anything else.

We don't know, we all agree on that. I just believe where there is smoke there is fire. And his isn't a dick IMO, his right to ask for what he wants. He is nuts to go way over the top IF he wants to stay a Ranger that is. I bet someone does give him 6 mill + per season over 5 + seasons, so I bet he gets it.

But then it is about the money, which is 1000% his right to make it about that. But then don't say you want to stay a Ranger. Because if you did you wouldn't need this monster 6 mill + cap hit.

That's how I view it. I don't begrudge Cally at all, his right to ask for whatever he wants to ask for, he has earned that. But I will not believe he truly wants to stay a Ranger first and foremost. That's how I view it.
