Some more thoughts... Not so much intense commercialism on the show itself. I didn't feel inundated with ads. Kudos to the WWE. Almost like they didn't want to give the fans everything they wanted with Bryan so they had Taker lose. They shoehorned about 50 extra wrestlers into the show. Kind of makes wrestling at WM less of an accomplishment? Production looked good. Live music was unnecessary. I probably missed a lot of context by not watching wrestling for fifteen years and then watching tonight, lol
The Taker match kind of took the wind out of the sails, didn't it? Not only because it was unexpected, but it was almost like it was botched. I know that "anything can happen", and they have to sell it like that, but it almost looked like it was fucked up. Like he was supposed to kick out, but was knocked silly and couldn't. Not sure why they had him lose to a guy whose only there like 1/4th the time (granted, Undertaker is only there 1 PPV a year..but he's kind of earned that).
When Orton did his diamond cutter thing on the announce table it looked like he missed and landed back-first on a monitor. His back was marked up afterwards. He got up and finished the match so I figured he must not of hit it so hard but thinking back he might've been hurt and pushed through. I can't imagine dropping about six feet and landing back-first on a steel box.
The last time I saw a wrestler take his sweet ass time leaving the ring like that was in Montreal. Just saying. Dave Meltzer (FFO) says tonight's theme was the end of the Attitude era. HHH lost, NAO lost, Kane lost, Taker lost, and Daniel Bryan became the man. Explains putting The Rock, SCSA, and Hulk in the same context to kick-off the show. Doesn't explain what the fuck they are doing with Cena and Wyatt.
Just thinking back a few years when Kip Sopp was doing the indy circuit for a while he did an interview with a local (small) paper. He thoroughly trashed the WWE but concluded by saying he'd like to go back. I imagine getting to wrestle at WM was a bit of a nice career turn for him even if it was to just get run over.
