Current champs should get a Larry O'Brien Trophy logo patch, maybe an inch and a half high, on the left shoulder, for one season only. Consecutive champs get a patch with as many trophies as they have consecutive titles.
I don't count any rings before the merger. If we don't count ABA titles we shouldn't count pre-merger NBA titles. Back then the NBA was a niche sport with 8 teams. Boston was effectively the globetrotters buying all the other teams players. So the Blazers won the inaugural title!
It's kind of bullshit, since the Thunder insisted to the NBA about taking Seattle's history. (I totally disagree with that, the Sonics died in 2007, but whatever). Be consistent--if you effing announcer will say things like "Durant set the team scoring record held by Shawn Kemp from 1996", then put the damn trophy on your back. If you aren't going to put the trophy, then follow Gary Payton's example and say "I'm not hanging my jersey in OKC--I never played there" and start the history books from 2007.
Looks like they do. The pic in the article Fonz posted says "4x" on the tab in embroidery. http://t.co/vgXajzsk0u
Must be. I'd imagine this is months if not nearly a year in development just to present and get approval on the implementation.
