His Atlanta Hawks teams were always in like the bottom 3rd or worse in the league in pace. And he seemed ok.

I think the biggest issue, as many alluded to, is money. He makes a ton of it. However, just saying he can't shoot 3s, thus doesn't fit our offense...I think Terry Stotts has a pretty good offensive mind. And I think he could figure out a way to play Josh Smith with our other pieces and have a solid offense still. I'd look back to his old team, the Dallas Mavericks. They won 55 games, and then 57 and a championship with Shawn Marion as a big part of their team, and he shot right around .150 from 3 those two seasons. They were 10th and 8th in ORTg running a similar offense, with a guy who couldn't(and didn't really) shoot from outside.

In the wake of losing LeBron James last week, the Heat have retooled their team by reaching contracts with Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Luol Deng, Josh McRoberts, Chris Andersen, Mario Chalmers, Danny Granger, James Ennis and Haslem totaling more than $215 million. ESPN.com

The NBA is going to do everything possible to make sure the Heat and Cavs meet for the ECF.

I think a Pacers vs Cavs ECF would be more fun.

Giannis is showing a scary skillset at his size.

I think if you re-do last year he'd go #1 AND this year if he were in this draft.

    You guys can't see motives.

We should be so lucky if our equivalent, Batum, would use the same self-motivation technique, and find something to play angry about.

Read your own excerpt. He is trying to get the Kings to buy him out.

That kind of penny pinching trickery is why KD should and will leave that sorry ass franchise.

It's hilarious that taking the frugal route is being lauded as "savvy."

    To play devil's advocate:

Isn't this kind of what many of us thought the D-League "farm" system should be about? I don't mean doing it in this kind of underhanded, seemingly exploitive manner. But that teams should be allowed (maybe required) to have a "farm team" and to have those players under contract, but not counting against their big league 15-man roster, and use the minor league team to develop prospects? They could call players up, and send players down. More trade fodder too. I do think the league should pay them more than the ridiculous $25K cited in the first article.

It seems like there's another successful sports league that uses a similar system.

If the players were in a farm system, then maybe. But this just reeks of avoiding guaranteed contracts and underpaying marginal talent by keeping a desperate kid hopeful.

As for that other sport, isn't it slowly rotting from the inside as its viewership trends older and older? And even if that doesn't matter, do we really expect the NBA to do anything other than half-ass it?

I agree with the first part. OKC at the very least is circumventing the system. I think there should be a system whereby they have to pay him to stash him for developmental purposes. And unless there is a system whereby all teams do the same thing on an equal playing field, it's cheating. And arguably cheating the player in the process.

As for the second part: IDK. I'm not a baseball fan. ;)

Aminu signs for 2 yrs at 1 mil per yr - another nice signing by the Mavs, would have liked to get him and get rid of one of our bench scrubs

He'd just be another bench scrub. I'd rather go after Marion. Why is he still available?
