If I'm not mistaken, I believe Chris Haynes' content was being copy/pasted here in its entirety. That's a lot different than linking to our stories. We love links. We love quoting a few sentences and linking to the original story (ie: BlazersEdge). We don't love people copy/pasting our content on to their sites. Doesn't seem unreasonable. -Ben Golliver
I agree. If someone puts in the effort, you should not be able to read the entire content on this forum. The story we got was that they did not want stories on the Comcast site linked to this one because they wanted people to talk about the articles in the Comcast forum. Little help Denny?
I don't go to other sites. I expect everything to be posted here to read in it's entirety. If not, then they can eat a dick!
I wasn't involved directly, but SlyPokerDog can tell his version of what happened... What I recall is that we were asked to not even put a link to their site here. But I also understand that they might have been upset and given us harsh treatment if we were posting articles in their entirety.
A simple click is not asking much. Do you like doing work and have someone else benefit from it without giving back?
They asked us to stop, we did. I don't see there's any beef between us. In fact, they're here looking to work with us. I think there's a lot of potential if we can.
I hope your neighbors are not leaving the bowl of candy on the porch with the sign pleading to only take one piece.
Kevin, welcome to the board. One of the forum maxims/parodies is: In this case, I say with all seriousness: "read some threads, then ask again." There's something of everything--humor, satire, meme creation, game thread domination and some real pros at x's and o's. Some guys are coaches, some guys are scouts, some guys have pizza guys who give them scoops on trade rumors. All are knowledgeable and articulate Blazer fans. I'm probably disqualified from ever debating with Jaynes again, but I'm happy to help Denny and Sly in their new venture.
Especially when you post a link to credit the writer. Btw, so is Ben Golliver breaking copyright laws?
You can post full articles maybe once in a while. If you're posting nearly every single one by a columnist, you are stealing their content, obviously. What some judge in a lawsuit ruled somewhere won't affect the really big expense of litigating or settling some lawsuit brought over it. It just ain't worth it. We can come up with our own content just as easily - we do it all the time
I mean its your site Denny, you can impose whatever restrictions you see fit, I was just actually wondering if there has been a court ruling of some sort
