QUOTE (David_Ortiz)

codes for each smiley?

i just think that would be easier to type out the smiley you want instead of having to go into that menu and hunt for it. i think Denny Crane would know what i'm talking about b/c we both used to post on the board that had this. plus linkable smileys was always one of my favorite tricks. ;]

It costs a bit of CPU to parse posts for all the smileys by text name. It's a cheat for you to pick from a list of smileys and have the <img tags put in the post by the editor...

Smilies are practically unusable right now in their current way. The cheat way is good in theory, but opening the smiley popup window crashes firefox 9 out of 10 times.

The smiley pop up window (with the new editor) has never crashed in firefox for me. The older one with the older editor crashed all the time though.

First, I type in my user name and password and hit enter and it just sits there. It doesn't log me in. Instead I have to mouse over and hit another button to log in.
Second, the type size, colors, menus and banners are too helter skelter. It's not a clean look and there is wasted space. The message text font is too small. All of the quotes and replies should be of uniform text and text should be bigger than it currently is. One should be able to see the quote easily and the reply easily and the reply portion should be easy to pick out and read. Also, we should be able to see how our post is going to look in Preview. It's should be WYSIWYG instead of just text. The emoticons aren't that easy to use.
Furthermore, I don't like the wasted space on the sides. It's just two black vertical bands giving for a claustrophobic feeling in the message box. I don't like the Save post button. It should be Submit post or something to that effect.
When I log on using my Mac notebook instead of Windows PC, then all of the features aren't available to me. It's very inconsistent. I hope it gets fixed soon because we have been losing our old posters for one reason or another.

Can there be some type of rule/standard about posting a link when posting a story? Seeing something posted with no link drives me crazy.
^^^ I'm good with that. There's an Arena game on ESPN tonight. It's up to cpawfan to make the forum, and we need a moderator.

Plus I recall that long ago, Shape said he'd get in trouble or something if no link was provided; I'm not sure what he meant exactly by that.
It's fair use if you provide a link, it's not if you don't. That's how it works, legally. We do encourage people to include links to stuff they post.
