It's the old "when it rains it pours" story. Looking around at teams short of expectations we see that Farrell, Mac Clendon, Ventura, and possibly Williams could be on managerial hot seats.
Sandoval's actions don't indicate a clubhouse issue Sandoval said he accepted the punishment he deserved The team's on field performance should be a reason... I still fail to see how Sandoval's actions in this case should impact Ferrell's stance...
Because the bottom line is that the Red Sox are ten games under and 9 games out in a year where the AL isn't exactly blowing anyone away. That being said I don't know what they expected with no pitching and an offense that isn't murder's row.
The on field performance is just cause to fire him... but Sandoval's actions are what I'm not getting the connection. I agree that the way the team has played is reason, but the actions of ONE PLAYER isn't a reason..
...hammer, again, it's a combination of things. There's been talk that Ferrell has "lost control" of the team. And just last week there was the dugout altercation with Miley...and now this. ...nobody said or implied that Ferrell's fate was shaky only because of what Sandoval did.
If he were hitting like Manny you would be hearing it's just Pablo being Pablo. Boy am I glad that's not the chase. That dick is going to eat himself out of the game in 2 years - I don't care how acrobatic he makes things look at his age.
...yeah, it's much easier for a younger guy to carry that much weight around (listed as 255 lbs)...but what's he gonna be like 4-5 years from now?
Sandoval is not a dominating offensive player. He's not terrible but he made his name in the post season. I don't know what they were expecting from him when you look at his regular season stats.
...well, I don't know what to tell you. Again, Pablo is not the only reason Farrell is on thin ice. Like has been pointed out multiple times, there's a lot more to it than that. If the Sox were winning or even playing .500 ball this would not be as big of an issue. ...I'm sure Francona will agree that though it was not the only reason, the chicken/beer thing was the "nail in the coffin" for him getting fired, and in a way, Theo too. Public relations and public perception are a big part of ownerships decisions too...especially in Boston where they've always been neurotic. ...here's another article that essentially makes the same observations as the other; http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2015/06/pablo_sandoval_instagram_incid.html
The Boston media zoo would put anyone on thin ice................except for Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft. Hmmmmm.
