Hmmm.... a business where even marginally talented atheletes can make millions of dollars, achieve unheard of levels of fame and be surrounded by gangs of beautiful women. Yeah, it must really suck.

Glad you got your guy. But I doubt this move had anything to do with losing mainly because I don't see Plumlee as a locker room cancer type.

I think he moved him because he wanted to get something out of the asset. Odd that that was such a priority and getting something out of Robin, LA and Wes was not just two years ago.

He received another draft pick. Let's see what he does with it. Last year he had a ton of cap space and did nothing with it. All is still not will. The team, the fans deserve a winning product. NOW. Not later. It's not time to get comfortable and call it the day. He has a lot of work to do. If not him, someone else which wouldn't hurt my feelings. If Okafor, Cousins and Butler are indeed available, he needs to make a run at them BEFORE THE DEADLINE.

Portland has been in talks to acquire Okafor for several days now...sounds like they want more than we'll offer for him

    This is true.

Though I don't share the amount of critique of past moves, He cant think he is done. There is absolutely more work to do. And I believe fully he knows this. He is acquiring picks. The best thing he can be doing. Gives him big trade power to either land a big star, trade up into the top three, or use them all and see who works out best and trade the rest next deadline.
Many options. This move untied his hands dramatically.

That is a good point. This makes the Blazers worse this season. Still a good move, considering this season is lost (sorry, KingSpeed, but "its teh truth" #MIXUM).

I'm not expecting us to immediately improve, I realize this is more of a long term move, and I'm ok with it, because his upside is higher than Plumlees.

Now that Bounce has updated our salary cap situation, it can be seen that Lillard and McCollum together take up HALF of our cap. That means 13 players are to take up the rest of the 50% of the cap - or 4.9% each. The other players want to make more than 5% of the cap. So, Lillard and McCollum, you should have just gotten Plums to agree to taking 5% of the cap, and I'm sure NO wouldn't have traded him.

I think so too. I still think we trade another big or two. And now we have an extra first rounder.

Or Olshey shouldn't have given Crabbe $19M per year and Turner $16M per year. That would also have left money for Plumlee. I don't think Lillard and McCollum are the actual problems here.

None of these are "problems", but earning a quarter of your team's salary cap is going to lead to guys being traded (like Harden). I was pointing to our backcourt for simplicity only. Crabbe and ET are taking more than there share of the pie as well. It's bizarre that the players act like they don't understand this.

What makes you think that players don't understand it? But why blame this on players? If there were no salary cap at all, Lillard and McCollum making what they do wouldn't take away ownership's ability to pay another player like Plumlee. It wasn't players who pushed for a salary cap (and luxury tax), it was owners--specifically to get out of the "pressure" of having to spend more than they'd like to.

Players get this just fine, which is why players' unions generally fight salary caps.

They will get over it. They have little choice. Once money talks, players walk.
