Warriors bad moves include:McHale and Parish for the rights to draft Joe Barely CaresWilt for peanutsDrafting Joe Smith #1 over KG, Dunleavy over Amare, Fuller over Kobe, Foyle over Tmac, etcTrading VC for Jamison, then Jamison for Van Exel, then Van Exel for Speedy ClaxtonGiving Foyle, Dunleavy, Murphy, Fisher, and Cardinal monstrous contractsLetting Chris Cohan buy the teamLetting Chris Cohan buy the teamLetting Chris Cohan buy the team.........

The worst move the Lakers made was not signing Dr J back in 76 or something(not sure of the year anymore, I'm getting old). Can you imagine how f*cking badass that would have been?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (KCX @ Mar 30 2007, 02:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>damn what an idiot whoever the gm was</div>Actually they had no idea about Pippen. He came from a small college (Central Arkansas) and back then the media did not cover small teams as closely as they do today (in fact there was almost no coverage). So the Sonics couldn't have possibly have known what talent they had in their hands. Plus Pippen was not an instants star in the NBA. It took him a few seasons to become the player we remember.
Pistons: Drafting DarkoPeople don't realize this, but if Robert Horry had never failed his physical, he would have been a Piston. Horry for Sean Elliot.

It may be for the better that you didn't get someone hwo'd demand a huge contract.
Wasn't the worst franchise move, made by the Portland Trailblazers, Bowie for Jordan. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Portland's draft decision is widely regarded as one of the worst in NBA history.</div>
Surprised nobody has said this one...Minnesota Timberwolves: hiring McHale, because every move he made was absolutely horrible aside from bringing in Cassell and Sprewell. But, if you're looking for one individual move Minny made that destroyed that franchise, it was the illegal contract they gave Joe Smith which ended up costing them five straight first round draft picks.

Losing however many draft picks for an average big? What was he thinking?

It would have to be hiring Rob Babcock. And then Babcock using our 8th pick to d raft Hoffa(we did needed a big man that time though), but with that pick we could of got Iguodala. Then Babcock gives a huge contract to Alston who didn't turn out like the Raptors hoped he would ALL OVER WHEN VC SAID HE WANTED TO SIGN STEVE NASH TO THE TEAM. After that Babcock Trading VC to Nets for Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, Zo(who said he couldn't play anymore) and rights to Joey Graham. Rob Babcock did mess up the team, but if it wasn't for him we wouldn't of gotten Bryan Colangelo and also our first ever 1st overall pick to Andrea Bargnani. Also drafting Michael Bradley over Zach Randolph or Samuel Dalembert. Also Raptors letting him TMac leave Toronto I think as a free agent don't remember.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (austingriz @ Mar 29 2007, 11:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Nope...worst trade ever was:2003 1st rnd Vancouvor Grizzlies draft pick for Otis Thorpe. Turns out, that pick ended up being the 2nd overall pick in that 2003 draft. Most likely, if they(in Vancouvor) didnt trade that pick, Carmelo Anthony or Dwyane Wade would be a Memphis Grizzly paired with Gasol.</div>I guess it's not that bad, because the Pistons took Darko Milicic. Then again, I'd rather have Milicic than Thorpe. Speaking of Larry Hughes, Cleveland is definitely not the place for him. They run a half-court offense, they only average 96 ppg, but they are tremendous on the defensive end. Hughes thrives in a up-tempo offense, it creates better looks for him, because the man isn't a good shooter, whatsoever. I'm still pissed that he left, because he was one of my favorite players on the Wizards back in '04-05. Why couldn't Cleveland just have signed Michael Redd or Ray Allen that offseason..

They would be crazy dominant with a due of Redd/LeBron or Allen/LeBron. Hughes has no where near the talent he had when he was in Washington, injuries and as you said an offense that doesn't match his game have been his downfall. Besides we got Caron Butler now.
Worst move ever? Portland drafting Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Without a doubt that has to be the worst move ever.Another terrible move has to be when the mavericks used those silver jerseys in the first game of the 2003-2004 season. Those jerseys were sickening!

So they agreed to sign him to a three-year deal that would pay him between $1 and $3 million each year, and promised to give him a huge $80 million contract once his three-year deal was up. The stupid part was that they put all that in writing in his three-year contract, which is against league rules. So, Stern stripped five first-round picks from them, fined the team $3.5 million, voided Smith's contract, and basically erased Smith's first two years in Minnesota from the history books.
